Once and for all ... Shimano is made by Pinnacle, Daiwa is made by Banax, Abu Garcia is manufactured by Okuma!

Van Staal is owned by Quantum, along with Fin-Noir

How Garcia has managed to stay in business 89 years is beyond me considering the junk they've attempted to peddle as fishing reels all those years.

Go with the Silstar/Shimano Trevor.   :D

I've been using Abu reels for decades now without any issues whatsoever.  The Revo reels are the BOMB!

However, I feel no need to bash other brands simply because I like Abu reels.  Seems like a waste of brain cells to even bother.

Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Canon, Nikon, Minolta. It's a matter of personal preference. Take advice from those that use them, try them all, make up your own mind ... when you get to $75 or more for a reel, they're for the most part, all good ...

From the comments in this post, I assumed this was already covered. But anyway. Abu garcia is owned by Pure Fishing(An offshoot of berkley). They own the following companies

Penn® Abu Garcia® Berkley® Shakespeare® All Star Rods® Fenwick® Johnson® Mitchell® Pflueger® Spiderwire® Stren® XTools®

Maybe they should change their name to Ab-Pflu Gar-Silstar?
