Berkley Spooling Station?

Featured Replies

My home made contraption is wearing out and I thought I'd use up a BPS gift card on one of these.  Anybody have and use one?  Will it handle bigger spools of mono say larger than 300 yards?

I have a Cyclone Winder by Triangle Manufacturing.  I use it a lot! I dont know if they still sell this outfit, but it works extremely well.  I dont know about the Berkley spooling station...

I got one for Christmas, but I haven't used it yet. I'm going to spool up a couple of reels today and I'll let you know how it goes. It looks like it will handle a large spool but I'm not sure yet.

I have one and I like it plus it includes the line stripper.

Buddy had one and broke it within a few days.  It works well but not the most durable, and it's extremely difficult to do spinning reels.  As for me I don't use one and haven't had any problems spooling on a rod.

I have had a Berkley spooling station for 8 years and like it a great deal. It makes spooling line very easy and fast with the right tension. Spooling spinning reels is no problem if you read the instructions on how to do it. The set up is slightly different than for baitcasters, but not difficult at all. I highly recommend it. I can't for the life of me figure out how anyone could break one, since there is nothing to break on it.

Could you elaborate on how you spool spinning reels with the Berkely tool? I've read the directions and still can't seem to get it right. The line twists around the spool spindle every time I try.

I would imagine you spool a modern Daiwa or Shimano spinning reel just as you do a baitcaster, since both factories recommend not doing their reels in the old standard way, but as you do a caster except with the line coming from the bottom of the spool.

I've had one for over 20 years and it has worked just fine. I lost a set screw once and Berkley sent me one in about 3 days - no charge. I don't use it for spinning reels. More hastle than it's worth. Mine will hold a 3,000 yard spool of XL 12#

I have had one going on 2 years and like it a lot.

I have been using a Berkley Spooling Station for 3 or 4 years now and it is very easy to use. Just have the spool mounted so that the line is coming over the top and it will go on the right way (when you mount the reels the spinning reel is upside down and the baitcaster is right side up).

I picked one up yesterday.   I think its better made than I expected.   I'll put it to use tomorrow.
