Curado 200E7 or Chronarch 100D7 or ?

Featured Replies

I'm looking at these two reels for some light weight casting duties. Let's say 1/4 oz stuff up to no more that 1/2 oz thingies. Lighter spinnerbaits, plastics, and so on. Reel will go on a GLoomis MBR783 6'6" MH. I want to cast these lures a country mile or as close to that as possible. Ok, maybe half a country mile. I do not mind spending the extra $120.00 if the Chronarch is more the ticket for what I want to accomplish. Or, what do you use for light lure baitcasters?

Thanks for the input.

The Chronarch is an absolute gem any way you put it, the Curado is a great value any way you put it, so if you want to fish with the best you can get for your money the 120 dollars difference is worth it, get the Chronarch, if you want not to spend too much but fish with a good quality reel then get the Curado.

BTW, any decent baitcaster worth it 's weight in salt can cast 1/4 oz baits with no problem, 1/4 oz is anything but light.

I compared the 2 reels in the tackle shop, and while the Curado was "going" to be my purchase in the begining..I decided to handle the Chronarch..To me, the Chronarch felt smoother, had more "silkiness" to it, so I bought it. I love the reel. I did get it on sale, so it was worth thr extra $$$ to me.

Half a country mile depends more on the rod than the reel, especially when you get down around 1/4 oz.

Very good point. I just want to know that the reel has the stuff to throw 1/4 or more if I match it with the right rod. I mostly use spinning for 1/8 to 1/4 oz. thingies, but it would be nice to know that I am purchasing a baitcaster that can handle light stuff in general.

Those lighter lures would  be easier to cast on a Medium rod instead of Medium Heavy.

I have both, when I bought the Curado, I did not want to spend the money on the Chronarch, then I bought the Chronarch. I guess it depends if you want to spend money. Both are good but the Chronarch is great.

I do not mind spending the money to get to where I want to be . Shoot, in a moment of madness I even looked closer at the Core. Bad,bad, dream.

I just bought a Core- and I am ecstatic! I am an average caster, and it makes me better than I really am. It is like a really sweet trigger on a centerfire rifle- it makes everyone a better shot....

Not necessarily.  Depends on several factors.  The rod's weight rating, the rod's action, the line being used.

So you're saying it's easier to cast light lures with a MH rod. :;)

I didn't think that I would have to spell out that a Medium rod is usually designed for lighter line and lure weights, and is more suitable for casting lighter lures. So now, it's spelled out. jeez

Spend the extra $ and get the Chronarch, you will be much happier with your purchase!

Its a sweet reel, you won't be disapointed!
