my new combo

Featured Replies

Just went to bass pro shops today and bought a new baitcast comboo. I bought a 7' medium heavy, modorate fast shimno compre with a pflueger patriarch64. I was just out casting with it and it is awesome! When i bought i didnt see the action was moderate fast. Will this make any difference? You think this is a good combo.Probaby gonna be used for everything except for top water. (crankbaits, spinner baits, and soft plastics)

I would feel more comfortable if it were a fast. Especially if your gonna used it for t-rigs, spinnerbaits. It would be great for trebles.

If you're using braid that Mod Fast probably won't hurt you a bit on T-rigs, it might even help you depending on how hard you set the hook.

It will be great for crankbaits and spinnerbaits over 3/8 oz and ok for t rigged plastics. If you want a rod to do all three then I think you made a good choice. I think it is easier to fish a t rig on a mod/fast than to throw a crankbait on a fast. This is just my preference.

Shimano Compres MH mod/fast is on the faster side of crankbait rods. I think the TC4 blank is a mix of graphite and glass which may not be quite as sensitive is an all graphite blank.  It is also a little heavier.

With this said, I think you will be fine with that setup.

One question though. Why a Pflueger on a Shimano rod?  ;D j/k
