line help - breaks

Featured Replies

I've been catching really good size fishes on a pier i've been fishing. problem is, im using a spinning gear cranking on seaguard 8lb. think its flouro. if they arent big, no biggy. muscle them over, call it a day.

but if theyre big, i sometimes get line snaps. thats not good. there really isnt an option to fight em over.

shore fishing stinks.

anyways, any good line solutions that'll work better then what im using now?

do you mean reeling your fish out of the water several feet up to the pier?

supporting a fish out of the water causes alot of strain on the rod. id look into some kind of drop net with a rope to save your rod.

if you think your rod can handle the weight, braided line would be a great solution.

thats true. line break is much better then rod break. haha. maybe i gotta stop fishing that pier or switch over to an ugly stick. this guy was using an ugly with braided and man, he was killn those smallies...(not literally).

i may have to invest, once those asian carps take over our lakes, i'm going to need something with infinite backbone.  :-/
