Featured Replies

I'm in the market for a new finesse rod, the rod will be used for shaky head, wacky rigs, drop shot, and weightless worms. i have looked at the dobyns savvy series, they look pretty nice. what are some other options that you would recommend? :-?

Depending on your budget and preference for grip styles...

St. Croix Avid- about $180 retail

AVS68MXF

AVS69MLXF

St. Croix Legend Tournament- about $230 retail

LTBS68MXF

LTBS69MLXF

For over $300 you can check out the Legend Elite and Legend Extremes too.

Dobyns makes an excellent finesse blank,

as does Powell and Damiki.

Roger

Steez CompileX 6'8" Med-Light Fast, simply the best.

check out a denali they make two lines the rosewood series at 180.00 or the jadewood at 99.00 both are very good rods i use the 7 ft dropshot rod and its amazing for everything from dropshotting to shakeyheads check them out before you buy

Without a price range, I would HIGHLY recommend the Dobyns 702 Spinning Rod. Perfect for everything you listed and much much more. Amazing all around spinning rod.  I would go with the Champion in the $200 range, or the Savvy if you're looking to spend under $150.

I could understand the use of a ML power stick for ultra fine wire hooks in open water conditions but could never go that light where heavy cover is close by, and where I fish thats typically the norm.  A ML, for me, makes for a good panfish stick but would be the wrong choice for 2+ lb bass.  However, I witnessed my 8 yr old son (then 7) haul in a 17" smallie on steroids with his 5'6" UL last year so maybe I need to reconsider.
