If that was me it would be 3 choices...I currently use all 3 lines.

#1.Yo-Zuri hyrbrid Ultra soft 6# test

#2.P-line CXX 6# test

#3. Trilene XL 12# test

As far as line color i generally use green color line.

for a 2500 size spinning reel i would not go over 8 lb. test . a good line for spinning reels and is very strong is P-line CXX . i use 6 lb. CXX on my spinning set up and love it .

8# maximum. Sufix Elite.

8# maximum. Sufix Elite.

Or a good 20-30# braid, like Power Pro.

if youre new to fishing or spinning reels, try that yo-zuri ultrasoft 6lb mentioned above. later on, mess with flouro and braid.

6# Silverthread AN40.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid  I use 8# on mine, lots of other people use 6.

I've never tried the ultrasoft that RW recommends, thats going on my next spool.  It's supposedly designed around spinning gear.  You can get a 600 yd spool for like 12-13 bucks at BPS.  Good stuff.
