Zillion Type R

Featured Replies

I just read the review on TT. Nice looking reel, but cost $130 more than an original Zillion. The main differences are the weight (it's only .1 ounce lighter), gear ratio, and the carbon swept handle. Like I said its a great looking reel, but I may wait to get one once the prce falls some. What are your opinions on it?

The price won't fall......Daiwa reels have gone up the past few years.  I'll be able to play with one soon.  I'm not expecting much over the Anny model, outside of bling.

Nothing to get excited about here, unfortunately.  They took a Zillion in a gear ratio they already offered and added a few upgrades that any number of reel repair guys could do.

400 dollar retail, they done lost their minds at Daiwa. This reel should weigh between 5-7 ounces to even come close to being worth 400 bux. Only thing they did worthwhile was beef up the drag to 15 pounds which I applaud. This will not be a hot seller at all imo

Not excited at all!! Not sure what or who they are targeting here it basically just has a carbon swept handle. It doesn't even have a true "R" rotor like the older TD-Zs?? This should definitely be weighing in at about the 6oz area. I don't know why they just don't remake the TD-Zs again if they are so sought after??

I think it will sell well if only for the JDM styling

That's the ONLY reason I'll get to play with one....my buddy thinks the palm side graphics are pimp.

They priced it to close to there steez lineup. You can easily get a steez online for cheaper than that. Also how many different ways can you do a zillion? It's ridiculously old. I just don't get what the daiwa camp s thinkink. Shimano has definately put them selves a step above with there lineup this year.

i think if i were gunna spend that kind of cash id get a steez or the MB zonda Zonda10R.jpg

at what point does the consumer just buy a Steez?
