I like the citica a little more than the pro qualifier.  The real noticable difference is the weight first of all.  The citica is an ounce lighter and I can really feel the difference.  As far as performace wise I think they're pretty much equal to some degree.  But from my opinion I like the look of the citica and the name brand SHIMANO so I would suggest going with the citica.

I really enjoy my pro qualifier. I have the 7.1 ratio with 30 lb braid spooled on the reel. It casts without any problems and smooth as can be. I use it for frogging but i have also used it for wacky too. So far it has handle my 4 lber with ease on wacky and a 4 lb bowfin out of the lilies with no problem as well. Another nice reel is the carbonlite, I somewhat like that over my pro qualifier..

I never used the citica so can't tell you but I'm thinking about making the carudo my next reel.

I have both a Citica D (but have two E's on the way) and a Pro Qualifier.  I think they are both great reels, but if you are going to be using your reel for multiple techniques I would go with the Pro Qualifier for the DBS...

I've got 4 PQ's and one Citica.  PQ's are slightly heavier, but thats really the only difference for me.  For the money, you can't beat the pro qualifier.  BPS got it right with that reel.

I have a pro qualifier I just got a couple months ago to use as a froggin' reel. I have the 6:4:1 gear ratio and have it spooled with 50 pound power pro. It is a very smooth reel that casts even a 5/16 ounce frog a long ways. I have had only a couple small backlashes with it. It's smooth and awesome. One of the best reels for your buck.

Haven't used the Citica but have heard it's an awesome reel, about the same or slightly better than the PQ. It's cheaper than the Curado but I've heard the Curado is worth the money and might be the best under $200 baitcaster made.

Comparing a BPS to a Shimano? no contest,Shimano wins hands down. As far as an all around reel though? that it is not,,it wont cast light stuff..need to drop more $$$$ for that.

The PQ is a rebadged Revo.  Revo vs. Citica straight up is a pretty even matchup decided mostly by brand loyalty.  A Revo vs. Citica at the PQ price is a no-brainer.

Luke the PQ is a fine all round reel. I like the 6.4:1 ratio best, but the 7:1 works well also. I have three and believe they are an excellent value in moderately priced reels.

There are some that are loyal to Shimano who will always recommend a Shimano product. That's cool. There are some that will always be negative about BPS stuff. I personally don't think that is cool. To say the PQ does not compare to the Citica because one is made by Shimano and the other made for BPS, is silly to me. Based on personal experience, the PQ is a great reel. I sure the Shimano is a fine reel also. Good luck.

I have both.

I fell in love with the Citica's at first, thought I would be buying them from now on. I still love them, but the PQ is a great reel as well. Got mine for $80, at that price you can't go wrong. (I also got one of my Citica's on ebay for $90, another steal.)

I use the PQ with a rod that I throw topwaters and shallow cranks on, so I like the ability to change the external brakes so easily.

With that said, I like centrifugal brakes better overall, and although I wouldn't hesitate to pick up another PQ, I do enjoy the citica a bit more.

My one concern is how the PQ's hold up over time. I have mostly shimano reels, and I feel like even the mid range stuff is very well made. Seems like a lot of people are loyal to the PQ's though, so I feel confident about the craftsmanship. So far...
