What is a good florocarbon knot to use? I was using a palomar knot but it keeps breaking when i set the hook. Anyone have any suggestions?

Double Palomar... Make sure the knot is well lubed before tightening.

Fish N Fool is supposed to be great but I would think any knot that doubles through the eye would be great.

Roadwarrior, is that similar to a nail-less nail knot? It looks really close to what I tie my fly tippets on with.

Most knots have many similarities. Your knot is basically secured

at the bottom instead of the top. Additionally, the loops are inside

as opposed to outside on the 16-20. So, different but close in terms

of structure.

BTW. I haven't mastered this knot yet, but if you are "into knots",

Ah I love learning knots... even though I only use the same 4 over and over haha that sebile looks hard to tie, Ill need to find a diagram. I can't watch people tie and then re do it. I'm strange like that haha

The only thing I do different is I pass the line through the eyelet twice. Never had any break-offs with this knot. I also check my line for frays near the knot regularly.

The Sebile knot only works well if the leader is much larger in diameter than the braided main.  It works for me when using fluoro leaders testing 50 lbs. or more for northern pike.  Otherwise, the Alberto Knot is pretty much fail safe.

The Alberto knot is AWESOME - easy to tie, very strong, and has never failed me at all.  However, its only good for joining line to line. The OP was asking about fluoro to hook eye, in which case I recommend a palomar knot but double the line through the eye (twice instead of once).  Also, slobber all over the knot before cinching it down.  It works just fine with anything 8# and up in my books!  Anything less and I will usually just tie the improved cinch knot, but its rare I fish with anything less than 8# at the business end of the line.

I was only resonding to the line to line comments, and about the Sebile knot failures.

For fluoro to hook eye, snell, Uni, and palomar all work fine for me.

I would suggest the uni knot .It has lots of uses and works well with fluoro.Once mastered it is easy to learn the sandiego jam knot,another good choice.

Thanks Francho, I like the smaller diameter of that knot its a lot smaller than the uni to uni.
