Are there any BPS or Calelas employees in the house?

Featured Replies

I have a curado E7 that I just won in a raffle. I would like to return it for a different reel. I just acquired one so I do not need this one. Problem is no one can tell me where it was purchased . The raffle guy said it is either Bass Pro Shops or Cabelas. How can I find out? It would be embarrassing to go to one of the store's and be wrong. There is two sets of bar codes on the box. Will they tell me anything? Here are the two different bar codes numbers,

Item No. CU200E7 (UPC)

0 22255 10992 5

and

Item No.CU200E7 (JAN)

4 969363 566478

Thanks for your help.

Has it entered your mind that maybe you could sell it ?

Has it entered your mind that maybe you could sell it ?

Has it entered your mind that he may not want to sell it for less and wants retail value for it?

Yes, he could ask someone to pay that amount, but then why would they not just go to bps where they know it is the real deal.

I would just call customer service for one of them, see if they can help.

You would have to lie to get either to take it back without a receipt. The BPS where I work part time will not take it back. Even with a receipt they are skeptical of returned reels................Al

If you were here at the main store in Springfield, they'd take it back.  Last year they exchanged a fly rod/reel that had been severly damaged in a house fire.

Come on  , he got it for free , he could sell it for half price and make a killing on it.

UPC bar codes are universal...neither store would be able to tell where it was bought as long as they both carry it.  One of the UPC's is for a foreign market, one is US.  W/O a receipt, you are likely looking at a store credit worth whatever the current retail is, which should be $179.99.  Just call ahead and make sure they'll do the exchange.  Tell them it was a gift with no receipt.

He could donate it to charity as well. That's what I did with the Curado I won from American Bass Outlet here.

You do understand what charities are , don't you ? You donate items and they in turn either sell the item or give it to people that it would benefit the most. Hope this helps you out.

I contacted Jim Dolan, National Director of Heroes on the Water, and sent the reel to him.  HOW is a charity I have been working with for the past year.  Since I had no use for the reel I won in a contest, and it literally cost me nothing, it was an easy decision.

If I thought it would be appropriate to give a kid a Curado, I would.  Not too many kids need that kind of handout.  I will hand out lures to kids on the shoreline fishing, and show them how to rig it.

It sounds like you need to think about what a charity really is.  Not now, you're young, and I understand all the stuff you have on your plate.  For later.
