Copoly line?

Featured Replies

I know what it is, but know nothing about it if that makes sense. I know I can google it but i'd rather hear from you guys how it is and what its good for just give me all your knowledge on it (: Thanks Also one particular question is does copoly float or sink?

Thanks,

Collin

I've used SilverThread co-poly since Bagley introduced it way back when.  My rods are still spooled with either Super SilverThread or the AN-40.  The 17lb line has about the same diameter as 12lb Trilene.  Not everyone carries it these days, but it's still reasonably priced and one of the best lines out there IMO.  As for whether it sinks or not, after all these years of using it I never really paid any attention to exactly what it does.  All I can say is that I've caught a ton of fish on it and never had a break with it that was the fault of the line.

A simple explanation is a material with more than one

component. For example, Yo-Zuri Hybrid is a bonded,

not coated, blend of nylon and fluorocarbon strands.

Individually, a type of nylon is extruded to create

a monofilament line. A copolymer is comprised of two

(or more) different components.

I keep P-line copoly on my jig rods primarily because of its strength and I haven't noticing it floating much more the the mono.
