Sunline or Tatsu

Recommended Posts

I love everything about Invizx except the stretch. I'm not getting good hooksets because of the stretch. I've tried most of the cheaper ones and they all had worse attributes then stretch. I haven't tried Abrazx though.

Which is better Sunline or Tatsu? If Sunline, which one? Shooter? Shooter Metan Invisible Camo? Sniper? Another one?

It is hard to beat the Sunline Sniper for bottom contact baits.

I have not fished the Sunline products, so I cannot compare.

However, I am fishing Tatsu #15 on one baitcaster. This is the

finest line I have ever fished.

8-)

That's exactly what I'll be using it for. 8lb. for Shakyhead

and 15-20lb for jig/texas rig.

Does Tatsu have more stretch than other FC's. I hate to keep harping on that but I missed alot of fish the other day because of that. I would estimate that I had 15-18 that I set the hook on only to have my rod tip behind my head and the line wrapped around my head.

Wish I could give advice from first hand experience, BUT this advice comes from a guy with TONS of such experience using the best (and consequently the most expensive) gear. It is copied from a reply he made on another thread.

"Sunline Sniper is a really good FC and handles GREAT on spinning reels. Sunline Shooter is THE BEST FC IMHO. It's the most sensitive, strong, holds up to abrasion best, awesome knots, smooth tying FC I've ever used... and I have used them all. The only one that comes close to Shooter is Toray Bawo Premium Plus and it still really doesn't compare. If you liked Tatsu then you will LOVE Shooter"

Guess which line will be the first FC I buy. :) ;D

EDIT: Should have mentioned that he uses baitcasting equipment almost exclusively. Didn't want the comment about working great on a spinning reel to make you think the other remarks also pertained only to spinning reels.

Have you tried Spiderwire Ultracast 100% FC? Manageability (on spinning reels) is almost as good as the Invizx, and there's not much stretch. I gave up on Invizx specifically due to the stretch factor.

Of course, if you can afford Tatsu or Sunline, you should go for it, and not look back.

Tatsu is without a doubt the most versatile, best made, most sensitive fluorocarbon currently on the market.   I've had zero issue with it in regards to stretch, knot strength, or abrasion resistance.

Deep-I have not tried Ultracast yet but had intended to. Glad you reminded me, it gets really good reviews. I actually would have tried it first instead of Sunline or Tatsu.

I ended up ordering the Shooter Invisible Camo 8lb. Think I'll try the Ultracast in 15lb. on my T-rig.

Guess what, I have both. I use Ultracast FC when I want fluoros, and Samurai when I want a braid.

The ultracast is a mid-range fluoro (around the same price as Invizx); you just can't compare it with top of the line stuff like Tatsu or Shooter. But overall, I find it the best fluoro that I can afford.

I don't need to respool braid so often. So I spend the most I can, and buy Samurai; which is a line I really like. Powerpro and Samurai are in two different leagues, just like ultracast and tatsu are.

You get what you pay for, and I don't think it's fair to compare across boards.

Just my opinion, whatever works for me.

Edit: Hammer 4, if you were talking about the Ultracast braid/ invisibraid, I agree 100%. The Ultracast FC is the only Spiderwire line I like, and I tried a lot of their monos and braids.
