Looking for a new baitcaster for cranking - $200 -$250 Max

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to complete a new crankbait setup and I'm looking for the right BC for me.

I have a Shimano Curado 200E7. Its been a great reel and it will become my worm \ jig rod paired with a Loomis BCR.

I just upgraded a St Criox Avid to the Legend Bass Big Cranker (ugly Blue Stick) and I'm looking for the right reel to pair it with.

Thinking used Shimano Chronach or maybe new Abu STX... So many choices although has be lefty.

Thoughts and opinions welcome. Was thinking 5:2 or 6:4 for reel speed... 7 seems too fast although for lipless and spinners is OK.

Thanks!

A Curado E5 would be nice on there. So would a Revo winch or STX. Good luck with the search.

Curado E5's make for a nice crankin reel.  Retail around 170-180.  You'd save yourself a few bucks buying one of those.  I've never used a $200+ reel personally, so I'm no help to you there.  I'm sure in that price range that there are plenty of very nice options though.

TW doesn't seem to carry the E5 in Lefty... :(

My other Curado is awesome. My buddy is a big Daiwa fan but I was never really into those... Expect the ones I can afford.

Thanks for the options guys! Please keep em coming.

yeah...E5 doesn't come in a 201 but the revo winch and Daiwa Zillion come in a lefty....I use an E5 and love it but if I had to get a lefty it would be either of those two.  If you want to go faster with a 6.4 then take your pick, there are plenty of lefties in 6.x

LOL Thanks guys.

My local shop carries some Revos so I'll check that out. The Zillion is slightly out of my price range ATM.

Why not just go for a Pro Qualifier?

It's a great reel and it will save you some money to buy some more tackle.

Decided on the Winch... I can always sell it next year if I don't like.

Should be here early next week. Just in time for the end of the season.
