Is a flouro or mono leader attached to braid necessary?

shock absorption is a great point. although mono and flouro give you a ridiculous amount of stretch compared to braid, sometimes its good to have that little bit instead of ripping a hook right through the fishes mouth. I think im going to try a flouro leader for a few months come spring time. i think ill even put one on my ice traps

Hmm, I tend to think not, But...at a certain lake we fish, where the water is pretty clear, the only way we were able to catch fish, was with a 4.5" worm on a DS, and with a 4lb fluro leader, anything else, and they wouldn't touch it...go figure. I tend not to use a leader in most situations.
