there is also a series of videos on youtube where a tech from shimano shows how to do basic maintenance.

if youre doing it yourself , keep parts in the order they were taken off.

when taking out springs and clips , use a clear ziplock bag so they dont shoot off and disappear.

oil for bearings , grease for gears.

good luck.

The best idea really is to have them serviced professionally. The cost is very modest ($16.20 ea after discount) and the results will be much better. If you insist on DIY, you can email or pm me and I'll help you out.  ;)

STOP!

If you don't know how to get the cover off, you shouldn't be

working on those fine reels. Get a junk reel to practice on

first. If you can't find one locally, I have an old Quantum

you can have for free.  If you want it, send me a PM.

A few years ago I bought a video from these folks on how to strip, clean and lube a baitcaster. The best $29 I ever spent.

From the website:

PLEASE NOTE: These are recorded DVDs. Although they play in 98% of consumer players and computer players, we have had some customers claiming they won't play in theirs.

Save yourself a possible hassle and by a book.!

Good Luck.... ;)
