It looks cooler on a red rod/reel combo.

Easier for you to see.

Can't think of much else.

nice.. I can't wait to try it out..

yah i see no disadvantages to red braid.

I have seen red blaid bleed when really wet, which can stain cork.  It is on my brother's rods, and the cork on his rods is pink in places.  I don't know if this is common or has happened to anyone else.  I am just sharing my experience.  The braid in this situation was PowerPro.

Easier for you to see and harder for fish to see (not that I think the fish cares). You will like it. Power pro line performs, period. Enjoy!

x2.  PP red will bleed.  On your rod,  boat carpet.....

Easier for you to see.

It could be a combination of my eyes and the shade of my polarized glasses, but I have a terrible time seeing red line. I can see clear line above water better than I can see the red.

Also, as others have said, it bleeds out.  My line is more of a pink now than a red.

Yellow is the easiest to see. I marker up the last few feet of line with a black sharpie. I'll also swipe 1/2 the spool with black marker to give the line a breakup pattern I can see better. That really helps with the red line.

Treating your braid with KVD Line & Lure will slow down the fade.

thanks for the input! If the red runs onto my cork and turns it pink, I will just give the rod to my fiancee haha..

But for 5 bucks I couldnt not buy the 50lb red powerpro..

Red is the first color to disappear under water, so visibility would be an advantage. Big disadvantages is it will look like you just lost a fight to the Kool-Aid Man, the red PP seems to leak and get on everything, hands, reel, handle, but you can't beat $5.

A better solution is to use yellow braid and color 1/4 of the line on the reel spool with red softbait lure dye. Works great for all light conditions with or with sunglasses.

All superlines will fade/bleed color no matter what that color is. Coloring the line black will assure the fish will see it better.
