JM gold vs Pro Qual vs Revo S

Featured Replies

Wondering everyones opinions on these reels. Are they pretty much all comparable or does one stand out in performace. They are all within $20 bucks of each other currently.

I vote "none of the above". Take a look at the Pro Qualifier Tournament: http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Pro-Qualifier-Tournament-Baitcast-Reel/product/10224165/-1673056

Same features as the Pro Qualifier, but it's 1 oz-1.5 oz  lighter than any of the reels on your list, and sells for less than $80.

I have fished a PQ, very nice reel, very much worth the price.  Never fished a JM Gold but they seem very nice.  I wouldn't suggest a Revo S to my worst enemy, had two, both junk.

My vote is for the Revo S.. I have one and I like it more than my 09 Premier..  so to each their own I guess... Just gotta know how to use them..

Pro Qualifier without a doubt if those were my 3 choices.

X2 with a caveat. Do you have a particular gear ratio in mind? The regular PQ is available in 4 ratios, both LH and RH. The PQ Tournament is only available in 6.4:1 (which is a versatile ratio but may not be what you're looking for).

:;) Your in the very small % that would say that.

im looking at getting a PQ. i got excited when i saw the price but i want a 7.1:1 reel and also i want that extra drag because this will be a pitching reel

Just thought I would throw this in.I talked to an associate at BPS a year ago during the clasic and he steered me away from the PQ tournament. His reasons were that it had cheaper components in it. I do not know this to be fact, just what I was told.

I was pleased to see the Pro Qualifier Tournament reels added to the BPS site.  They were in-store only so hopefully they'll stay around for a while.

These reels (and Carbonlites) can be changed to a 7:1 ratio with the standard PQ gear set.  If you want to keep the weight down you can use the Premier 7:1 drive gear and either a PQ pinion or a Revo SX-HS pinion. I measured 28 1/4" IPT after changing one over.

I know.... tried to like them but the two I had felt really stiff and almost grindy.  I couldn't get any distance with any brakes or cast control on and one of them started to fall apart.  I have a '09 Premier and a '10 SX and really like both of them, I don't know what was wrong with the two I had.
