Well the lightest line on all my rods is 8 pound test. Is that too heavy for finese??

You can finesse a 8" hudd deluxe with 25 lb line, or a 3" senko with 6 lb line.

It's not the line, or the bait, or the rod. It's your presentation.

Now, if you're talking about dropshot....

EDIT: Well, that was sort of a smart@$$ reply. If you think a 8lb line is not thick enough to hinder the presentation, keep using it.

Probably not.  If you're not getting the bites maybe go down to 6.  You basically want the smallest line diameter you can get by with because it will handle better with the lighter baits and also give them better action.

Green is virtually invisible in gin clear water, purple

smoke is the best choice in stained water. However,

Green, smoke or clear will be just fine in any water,

pick the one that compliments your rod & reel combo.

I use 40# superline for finesse presentations using weightless Zoom finesse worms or those worms on shakey heads. A yellow color line works very well even in clear water.

If you are asking specifically about the line, I would suggest 6 lb Seaguar Invisx
