baitcaster choice

Featured Replies

I have read many posts here about baitcasters and it seems as though I can't go wrong here. Down to either a Revo SX for 140+tax or a Curado 200E7 for 148 incl shipping. BPS reel trade-in for the Revo deal or the Curado.

Your right. IMO you can't go wrong with either choices.  Go to the store and see which one fits the best in your hands.

I have both and would say e7 FTW but you will hear both sides here.

I like the E7 but like above, see what fits comfortable in your hands

im in the same boat Tim, need a new baitcaster for my recent rod purchase and i cant narrow it down to which, i havent used any abu garcia products, always been shimano reels and a quantum, not a fan of the quantum, and let me say that bass outlet site is kick a$$ lol... never knew about it

Easy decision:

Which one is a Shimano?

8-)

I could be wrong, but I think the reel trade in at BPS is finished.

There is allot of Shimano fans on this forum, but I think you take the cake for the biggest!  :)

Tim i was looking on the tackletour website comparing reviewss for both of the reels ; the revo sx was rated @ 7.25 and the curado e was rated at 8.5 editors choice, he directly compared the revo vs curado and said he expected more from the revo sx especially as a direct competitor to the curado

i think you should just see which one feels the best in your hand..

Go with the Revo :)

not in canada. the sale hasnt even started yet, it starts this week

I didn't see that the OP was from Canada. My mistake.

Theres a ton of shimano fan boys here (and i literally mean boys) so you're going to get an extremely biased opinion.

I've owned both and fished them for about a season and a half. I'm not a huge fan of shimano's braking system but it never gave me any trouble.

Distance wise they both can cast a heavy lure a country mile! and in my personal opinion they both suck with the lighter baits!

As for durability I have two friends one fishes nothing but revos and the other guy has nothing but currados and to be honest neither is too kind to their gear. Both the reels are mechanically fine but the finish on the revo seems to go faster than the currados!

It's seriously just a personal opinion on which reel/reel seat combo fits your hand better. If you end up ordering from ABO, he's a local in the area and a real cool guy!
