Not to popular, but I've used the uni to uni a bunch, even with some heavy baits, i.e. swimbaits inb the 4 oz. range, and never had a knot problem, if tied correctly...just sayin.. 8-)

The alberto is a good knot and easy to tie, that said I have only used it one time as I see no need tying my leaders onto my main line, I prefer tying my leader to a swivel for all my fishing. The one exception is targeting fish that will hit the swivel as quick as a lure, in my case that's spanish mackeral.

AND NEEDLE FISH, I hate those fish and cut-offs.

I have been using the uni to uni for years without issue, but in a recent Knot wars episode I saw the light and may have to switch ;D

South FLA, ever see any needle fish in freshwater canals?  I have over the last couple of years and I'm wondering how they got there, why no snook then lol.  I have been trying for years but no freshies where I live.

If your Alberto slips, you're not going back through the loop the way you came in.

Yes I have seen them especially in the Griffin Road canal and neighborhoods that are fed from the canal through culvert pipes. Never caught one, but had them cut my leader or mangle my line pretty badly.

Just be careful the first time you get hung up with braid.  I nearly cut my pinkey off tugging on a stump.  The sensitivity is awesome.

I posted a while back about using braid and leaders and the knots that are best. It was almost unanimously in favor of the alberto/albright knot. I put the slash because they are basically the same knot +/- some extra loops. I also found that many do not use leaders at all. I plan to try both tactics....leaders in heavy brush and rocks, but no leader in the grass and weeds. I fish grass and weeds a lot with tex rigs and shakey heads.

I wonder.....is anyone using braid for lipless baits or topwaters?

I use braid on all my combos...30lb for my spinning gear and all-purpose baitcasters, 65lb on my swimbait/frog reel and 80 on my musky reel. The only time I use a leader is when I am fishing with plastics, crankbaits and swimbaits. All topwater is tied directly to braid, whether it is a buzzbait, popper, or a frog. Albright knot is the way to go imo

Blood knot, but it is kind of tricky to tie.

What is the point of using braid with a leader? A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link right?
