Favorite Topwater Colors

Featured Replies

One of my baits to focus on in '08 is topwater-specifically Sammy's and Spooks.  What colors have produced for you guys?

Thanks in advance,

FD

Transparent (clear) - Translucent - White - Pale Chartreuse - Pale Yellow

Roger

Ghost Minnow (translucent)

pearl white  in most lakes but if there are blueback herring a blue color   i like the ghost minnow for poppers and then a bull frog or yellow for those torpedo baits

look at the bottom of the bait.

you want...

yellow= bullfrog

white=baitfish or baby bass

any other shade of white for reason listed above

balack=night fishing

Baby Bass

Black on buzzbait.

White on a buzzbait.

Shad RICO.

Shad Pop-R.

Pink Trick Worm.

Green frog.

Blue Sammy.

Black Spook.

Silver Spook.

That's about I can recall but I am sure there are some others.

pearl white for most everything

natural colors for frogs

Zara Spooks- Baby Bass and Black

Absolutely the best!

At night I like to use black,mostly jitterbugs and buzzbaits

I think color does not matter at all with topwater baits.  All the fish sees is the bottom.  That being said, I would say to replicate the natural look of all prey.  All prey have a light colored belly and a dark back.  I think the colors on top are all put on to catch the fisherman, not the fish.
