Here's a question regarding gimmicks! I was at an outdoor show promoting mine and dad's hunting business we just started. A guy in the booth next to us had some rods that have a buzzer on them.

The buzzer is in the butt of the rod and there's a button you push right by the reel seat. When you push the button it sends a vibration down the rod and line to the bait. This does work as far as the vibration is concerned. The rod is built on an All-Star blank. This rod sells for a hundred dollars, same as the All-Stars.

My question is do you guys think that this would improve your catch or number of bites? The guy was a guide and just promoting them for the man who makes them. He says that since he started using them he has impoved his catch time, on bedding fish, to under 10 minutes!

I'm thinking about trying them and if they don't work any better well I'll have another 100 dollar All-Star rod!

Save your money,its a gimmick.I wouldnt buy another Allstar either. Now that the majority of lower end($100 and less)allstars are being made in china you never know,maybe that buzzer thing catches fish in china.------LOL

Well personally I like All-Stars rods and have had no trouble with them, regardless of where they're made. These rods are made on All-Star blanks in, I believe, Amarillo, Tx or Lubbock, Tx.

Allstars were made in Houston Texas, I dont know where they will be made now that they have been bought out by shakespeare.I own 4 allstars, 2 titaniums and 2 team allstars, all of them have been great rods. My concern is that the quality will go down now that they come from China.It seems that anything I buy that is made in China turns out to be a mistake.

Be American and Buy American...Hey GamblerOH, it's probably a big seller among the women over there!!lol

I'm sure the women love'em.  my wife says I should go ahead and order on just to see if I like it. -LOL

who says the chinese can't make anything just as good as the japanese or us?as far as i know all the rods from the american classic series through the titanium series are made here.bps rods are made in china and lots of guys love them.

The whole point of this topic is WOULD YOU BUY A ROD THAT BUZZED. Do you think it would improve catch time on bedding fish, or cause a reaction strike from a fish that isn't real active at the time?

no problem skeeter, at least you'll be ordering them for the right reasons!! Dodgeguy, you are an auto tech, dont you think there a difference in USA tools and China tools.ie. snap-on compared to ampro from advance auto. surely you have busted your knuckles a time or two when cheap tools break.

sorry I missed the point skeeter. I would not buy a rod that buzzed even if it was made in the good ole USA.

Maybe it was designed to fish buzzbaits.

I pretty quick sometimes to part with a $100 but not that quick.... It sounds like a gimmick to me.  Unless he's buying in huge bulk I don't see how he can sell a $100 All Star with the vibrating mech. attached to it for $100 bucks. It seems if the rod retails for $100 he would have to charge a few bucks more to make ends meet and turn a profit.

gambler,good question.i used to buy nothing but snap on but not any more.they are ridiculously priced and there are way better bargains out there made elsewhere.any tool i loae is now replaced with either a husky from home depot or kobalt from lowes.btw,snap on ratchets are the worst!!!talk about broken knuckles!!!

i wouldn't buy a buzzing rod either.

dodgeguy, husky and cobalt are both good tools,i'm not sure where they are made but they are good,and have a good warranty. I'm partial to snap-on though since I was a dealer for 5 years.Luckily I found a better way to make a living. I have to admit I did replace a lot of gears in the fine tooth ratchets though.I was just trying to make a point about MOST things that come from china.

The idea was that I could pitch a jig into a spot turn the buzzing feature on and cause my lure to vibrate in one spot on a tight line. The problem was that when it was turned on you could not feel the fish grab your lure. What I did find was that it was killer on bedding fish. You could place a lure in the bed and raise the line tight and tease the fish to hit. The longer the cast the less the line was able to transfer the vibrations. Total cost under $5

This is the ponit that he was making. He says it worked great on bedding fish. Sometimes your really have to pester those bedding girls for a long time before they get ticked off enough to bite. He was saying that it was improving his catch time on these bedding fish.

And to elaborate on the All-Star rod. IT'S NOT A TRUE ALL-STAR ROD. He buys the All-star BLANKS and building the rod off that. I'm still undecided whether or not to try one.

Skeeter don't waist your money. Take that 100 dollar bill put another one with it and get a G.Loomis.. I know a lot of females that like vibrating rods, but, I don't think bass females do. I could be wrong. I think I can get the same effect using a 1/2-3/4 oz tungsten and shaking my own rod. Big weight will hold the bait in one place while you shake it!!

Chris is right!  None of you others have heard of a vibrating technique work?  Someone posted something regarding this recently.  The story had something to do with someone's rod leaning against the boat motor, vibrating the lure and improving their catch for the day dramatically.  Everyone was fighting for a spot on the motor to lean their rod. Funny but true!
