Blue with nothing but a john boat. That's just sad. Hope you can save up and get something better soon. The bass in kansas are getting off easy this summer.

Here are some pictures and the video from the giant I caught at LaCygne this weekend. She weighed 10 ls 15 oz and released to fight another day.

Fished LaCygne Sunday- I started up lake and noticed quite a few boats in the river section. I pitched flooded brush and water willows for a while ending up with one fish about 2lbs.

Had another good day on Wolf today/yesterday/Friday, whatever you want to call it at 1am.

Hey blue, did i see you on Jacomo today? Blue boat with a 15hp tiller? Said ripping lips on the side?

Sold it a couple months ago. Got to pay stuff off if I ever want to be able to afford a real boat.

Hard part for me is having week days off when most people are at work. I've got a 15' johnboat with a 15hp tiller drive and 43lb bow mount motorguide that's going to have to get me through for now. If you ever have a Thursday or Friday off let me know and I'd be willing to weigh the back of your boat down for you.

Gotcha. The real boat thing is pretty nice, not to say yours wasn't real. Anything to get you on the water is what matters.

But, I will say. Switching from a 16 foot fish and ski to a 20 foot bass boat is a night and day difference. It'd be tough going back...

Yep, that was Jon (basshunter0731) and I. Was a tough day out there. Had a lot of follows on a swimbait and was a little quick on the trigger with a 5+ that ate it at the boat. Most of the fish we caught were on wacky rigs and much smaller than the last times, but still very healthy at least. I did catch one in the 3-3.5 pound range on a Funky Chicken colored Big Head Wobbler and another one around 3 on a Pit Boss flipping the water willow.

It's a pretty nice johnboat, and other than the fish in bigger lakes getting a break I'll still be out there after them.

Hey Blue, I herd a rumor about a top secret Super Sizzler lure based off the infamous Rodney Rattler. Can we get any info on this?

It's true, except for the super secret part, at least I wasn't keeping it super secret but I guess I wasn't really telling anyone either. I've actually got a few new colors. Kind of hard to do an exact copy of the Rodney but I was really happy with how it turned out.

A copy of War Eagle's Coleslaw color, one of my favorites for smallmouths on cloudy days.

Black and chartreuse with a chartreuse blade, should be a killer in muddy water.

Funky Chicken, got a bump on it's head from bouncing off a rock already. I've caught some really good fish on this one already, including our biggest yesterday.

There is a copyright on the name so it will cost you 20 extra dollars to get it :laugh5:

I should have said something to you two other than "how ya doing". I was walking back to my truck and ya'll were just talking over your day. I'm thinking basshunter0731 should change his name to big jon!! next time I see ya out I'll say hello.

Went to local pit today with my youngest. Cameron. He is on the Autism Spectrum. He had a blast!

Fishing started slow, little 2lb chunk on a swimjig, couple small ones off a point on a Carolina Rigged Lizard. (Yea, thats right CHRIS!!!) Bite was slow, painfully slow. Wind howling out of the south. Drifted down to where a big sandbar extends out with a bunch of grass. AND THEY WERE STACKED!!! CRigged Lizard and Trick Worm paid the bills. 8 in about the last 30-45 minutes of the day. 15 total with the biggest being little under 3.

I found out that Oakley Quantum Rod has the backbone of a wet noodle. Gotta adjust my arsenal some.

Is he in the "hot tub"?

I bet you could put some big trebles on those dinosaurs and catch some monsters.

Any of you guys throw something more durable than a horny toad? I understand a hollow body frog works but sometimes the action of a horny toad is better

Black Toads areva tad more durable IMO

Zman makes a couple different frogs that are way more durable.

You guys throw them on twist lock hooks also?

I use Zoom Horny Toad Hooks. They are made by Gamakatsu.

Stanley Ribbits are good, but not the same as the Horny Toads. Bigger plop plop as opposed to the subtle plip plip by the Horny Toad.

Went to Poague CA last night and picked a strip pit that was covered in Lillypads all around the edges. I decided on using my Booyah Pad Crasher that I had just bought recently . I have never used a frog before but I made it my goal this year to get out of my comfort zone since I almost always fish spinnerbaits or A 7.5 worm texas rigged.

I watched a lot of videos on the way to use a frog and It seemed to be getting a lot of interest with numerous explosions on it but I don't know if I was setting the hook to early or to late but I was unable to hook into one. So I got the d**n thing stuck in the tree and had to break my line, luckily the frog fell right in my kayak so I didn't lose it. I decided to tie on a buzzbait and caught numerous smaller bass and nothing spectacular. Not even one of them went for 2#s.

So far since deciding to learn new techniques and using different lures like the senko, shakeyhead and wacky rig, it has been a tough season so far. I think I will come out better in the end but d**n it's hard right now.

Frogs, i retrieve with the rod tip up a little. When they blow up on it, i drop the tip, reel the slack and set the hook.

Count to 3. 1 will be dropping the rod tip. 2 is reeling the slack, 3 is setting the hook
