Here are some pictures and the video from the giant I caught at LaCygne this weekend. She weighed 10 ls 15 oz and released to fight another day.

Fished LaCygne Sunday- I started up lake and noticed quite a few boats in the river section. I pitched flooded brush and water willows for a while ending up with one fish about 2lbs.

Had another good day on Wolf today/yesterday/Friday, whatever you want to call it at 1am.

Fished the Burtons Thursday night tournament on smithville  last night. 52 boats showed up and the fishing was about how you would expect smithville to be. Had one of the 2 limits weighed in for 12.02. We lost one at the boat that was around 5lbs because I'm too good for a net ? (Not anymore). 12.74 won so it hurt that much worse. Ended up 2nd so it wasn't terrible. Took 6th last week so I'm feeling good about my points standings but just hoping to stay consistent and fish clean next week

Nice work @redbirdsfan44!  I fished Smithville Thursday morning to pre fish for KC Corporate Challenge and I got skunked.  Last year prefishing my boat had over 15lbs, so it was a bit discouraging.

Today was the actual event, and we started out with a solid keeper back in ? creek on the Ned of all things.  Then I lost one on a beaver.  We felt like we had something figured out by fishing channel swings, but then my steering cable went out on the trolling motor.  We spent the rest of the event under the owl creek bridge catching dink crappie.  Had a good time but would have like to have had the whole day to bass fish to see if we could have put together something.  Maybe next year....

Wolf was so good Friday I was catching them 2 at a time!

The poor blue cats in that lake are on the verge of starvation too.

It was a blast with over 100 fish in the boat on the day, including a flurry of the most aggressive, spoon eating blue and channel cats I've ever encountered.

Wolf wolf wolf. Thanks for keeping the whites and Wipers out of the way for my dad and I . IMG_0173.thumb.JPG.f74e949c5ccc7387a90d3b50a1cef362.JPG

I know wrong species but Clinton crappie were on fire this past weekend. Easily caught over 200 Saturday and Sunday. However only 42 were keepers.

The Wipers and Whites were too. My other guides ran three trips on Saturday at Clinton and probably caught well over 200 between the trips. Even customers find it tough to want to do panfish things when those are on fire.

Had an amazing day at Perry on Sunday at the Kansas Buddy Bass Team series. Took home first place trophy with our 26 pound 2 ounce bag. We found something a little different than everyone else and it paid off.

I love fishing Perry, but man it's been rough out there the last couple years. Hopefully it will start producing good again. Anybody weigh any smallmouth?

I saw a few brown ones that were weighed in the pics.

Fished La Cygne on Sunday. It was a fun day, especially if you like panfish. The crappie are still in beast mode there. Spent most of the morning figuring out how to get baits past them and to the bass. I ended up with around a dozen bass, mostly on a black and blue jig. Three of them were (barely) keeper size, all right at 18", heaviest was 3.25.

I also got to test the drag on my nasci spinning reel when a 25" flathead hit my shakey head.

Thanks for the report. Was thinking of going there Thursday but not if those crappie are still shallow pecking at everything.

@Hi Salenity is going to upset if he finds out you're messing with his pet kitties.

Anyone have any updates for Smithville Lake? I am heading there this Saturday morning. 1st time to Smithville this year

There were a few smallmouth but not of any size. Most of the bigger bags had mostly largemouth.

Bring a crappie rig or 2.  They are biting all over the place.

Haven't heard much about the bass fishing.  They say they are spawning and a little tough to catch.

Short video from Gardner last week. Everyone in the group caught fish pretty well with a few nice ones mixed in. We caught them on variety of baits, the big fish was caught on a jig and was just shy of 4 lbs.

Keep seeing this on Burton's report and online, but out of 2 dozen minnows I had 2 keepers this weekend... talked to multiple others on the water getting skunked as well...

Probably just me, though. I can't catch bass out of that hole to save my life.

My father in law and a couple of his friends went out one evening last week and caught over 100.  They only ended up with 15 keepers though.

I caught this one yesterday at his pond on a popping frog bait. It put up a really good fight.

Here is my video from Perry last weekend. Only had five keeper bites all day and landed four of them. Managed the win with four fish for just over 14 pounds

There are nice brownies out there. Personally I've only caught one that would weigh. Lot's of shorts.  That was May 2014.

I've caught a few nice ones out there too, but haven't caught one in a couple years (mainly because I haven't been fishing it). Just wondering if they were doing any good out there or not. Seems like the lower end of the lake would support a pretty decent population of smallmouth if they can get established and if the water level is ever stable enough for a few successful spawns. I'm sure there's plenty of them going home in buckets during the crappie spawn too since they like the same riprap areas about the same time of year.

I think Clinton samples just as good as Perry for brown ones really. I have customers ask me all the time if Clinton has a Smallmouth population. It's much better than I think most people think it to be. I can guarantee Clinton would fish better than Melvern right now.
