SW Missouri fishing report
Haven’t posted in a while here. Everything is high and it’s all still rising. Bull Shoals has been lights out flipping a stick worm into flooded brush and log jams. Stockton has been decent flipping flooded bushes and an ok top water bite. Haven’t been on table rock in about a month but it was on fire last time I was there. Seems like a lot of fish are done spawning but there are still some late spawners to be found.

SW Missouri fishing report
I’ve heard the jerkbait and a rig bite has been pretty good. I haven’t been out there in a couple months. Not sure about the crappie fishing. Walleye should start showing up around points around the dam pretty soon.

SW Missouri fishing report
Fished Stockton the last two weekends (Nov. 2nd & 9th). Had a club tournament championship on the second and we got second with 14.05 and then fished a USA Bassin tournament on the 9th which we won with 14.22 and big bass with 4.60. Water only changed a couple degrees in a week and was 53.5 and warmed to 55 on Saturday. Ran the same stuff both weekends and caught lots of keeper smallies but the green ones were harder to come by. When they did bite they were usually there right ones we needed though. I did have a smallie that was over 3lbs though which is always fun.

Lew's closing Strike King?
It’s a business move. I live in Springfield and I suspected the move since they were both acquired by the same company. Especially now that KVD made the jump to Lews this year.

SW Missouri fishing report
Went to Stockton yesterday. Water temp was 58 in the morning and saw 61 in the afternoon. Caught fish throwing moving baits. Mainly the rock crawler and wiggle wart but did have a few early up shallow on a spinnerbait. Water was was stained the further down the river arms you went. We had quite a few fish but not a lot of keepers. Beautiful day on the water nevertheless. My buddy had the best two fish of the day out of the back of the boat.

SW Missouri fishing report
Lots of other topics for other areas so I figured I’d try to start one for SW Missouri. Lakes like Table Rock, Bull Shoals, Stockton, Pomme, Truman, LOZ, and anything in between. I haven’t been on the water this week but made it out to Table Rock last Thursday afternoon and fished around Shell Knob. Water temp was 70-72 and caught a few fish a few different ways. The water was up in the bushes but doubt it will stay up long with the core dropping the lake to 915 by Nov. 1st. Caught some spots on a finesse jig on secondary points 15-20ft deep. Caught a few largemouth throwing a spinnerbait up in the bushes and had a dink smallie up shallow too.

Old wiggle warts
Today I went to meet an older woman to purchase some pre rap wiggle warts. She owned a boat dock hardware store and she had a cork board with a bunch of baits along with the wiggle warts on it that she’d sent me a picture of showing what was for sale. I drove about an hour away from home to go get them and when I got there they were gone. She wasn’t aware of the value of the older warts and didn’t really know what she had. It was apparent one of her employees had taken them. I felt bad for her because one of her employees had stolen from her and at the same time she felt bad for me that I traveled all the way there (with my 3 month old daughter) to come up empty handed. To not drag things out anymore there were some more baits left and I had picked out two i wanted to buy. A pre rap magnum wiggle wart and an old Bagley diving b2. Anyone know how rare the V45 (brown scale craw) mag wart is?

Line Lay Problem
This might sound dumb but you did put backing on before the braid didn’t you?

New Mojo Bass Glass Rods
Is there a difference in the new greenish color St. Croix mojo glass to the og purple mojo glass rods? I picked up a new one in the 7’2” heavy for throwing chatterbaits. Same SCI s glass blank as the other mojo glass I have. Just wondered if St. Croix updated anything besides the color. IMO the mojo bass lineup of rods are hands down the best rod for the money on the market.

Osprey Talon Line Through
I recently purchased a 6” osprey talon line through Swimbait and I caught my first fish on it yesterday. Both eyes came off and the bait ripped down the middle of the nose down to the weight system. Anyone here ever replace eyes that come off of an osprey? I was going to mold a small tube into it for the line through to keep that from ripping every fish catch but am having trouble finding something that tiny. I was kind of disappointed on the durability but I know mend it will be my friend on soft Swimbaits.

If your spotlock capable motor now is an ultrex keep it or you won’t be able to properly mount panoptix to the shaft of an electric steer motor such as the Terrova, ulterra, Xi5- Best Garmin Dealers
I work for a retailer that is a Garmin dealer. I made a fairly large order with Garmin last week (roughly $20k wholesale cost). I asked my sales rep if they give dealer discounts and his response was simply the dealer markup list. As long as Garmin dealers only have a 20% markup on marine products it will be extremely difficult to find deals on current model products simply because dealers are hardly making money on them.- Kayak fishfinder
The Garmin striker plus 5cv is going to be right there at $300. I think that’s your best unit in the price range. No lake mapping on the unit but you can mark waypoints and make your own map information. The striker has crisp clear chirp sonar and good down imagery (ClearVü).- For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Anyone fish lacygne today? Water temp?- Garmin Echomaps plus 93sv
It’s a separate part you can order. It is not at all necessary to get clear sidevu and ClearVü. https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/618945- Garmin Echomaps plus 93sv
I’ve used both the echo maps plus 93sv and Humminbird mega units. The echomaps unit is definitely the better bang for the buck. Humminbird keeps raising the price every year for minuscule changes. The 2d sonar with the GT-52 transducer, which is standard withe the 93sv, is much better than the Humminbird. You won’t see crystal clear side and down imaging like you can with mega but if you get the HD box for the Garmin it’s pretty dang clear. Garmin has the easiest user interface out of any brand of fishfinders. Another upside to Garmin is the ability to add panoptix/livescope. I run 2 helix 9 G2N units with mega, and I’ve been a Humminbird guy for years, but with the way things are going I’ll be switching to Garmin in the near future.- dropshot alternative?
Depends on time of year and type of cover/structure you have to fish. I fish a lot on table rock where you can catch 100 fish a day on a drop shot in the summer time but really won’t find much quality in those most of the time. Brush piles will hold largemouth the same time of year which are usually better quality fish. Texas rig or Carolina rig will produce in those areas.- Helix 7 terrova question
No switch needed for what you’d like to achieve. PM me and I can list the parts with model numbers you’d need to achieve what you’re wanting to do. I promise this is 100% possible without a switch.- Helix 7 terrova question
The short answer is yes. The built in transducer is called US2. If you purchase an SI model Helix 7 you can mount the SI transducer at the transom of the boat. Humminbird makes a Y cable that allows you to run 2 transducers to one unit. You would have to manually select a transducer on the unit then. It can be done but it’s way easier running 2 units.- Bang for the buck fish finder advice?
Save your money and spend the money on something nicer. There’s a reason Humminbird isn’t offering a 5 inch display in the future (g3). You can’t see much at all in SI or DI. Get yourself AT LEAST a 7 inch display. Just my opinion. Garmin echomaps plus are the best bang for your buck units and I’m a Humminbird guy.- Trolling motor fish finder interference
You will always get interference when running a trolling motor and fish finder to the same battery. Have to run separate power sources or run to your cranking battery.- Humminbird Helix 7
A fuse is a safety. If you pop a fuse there’s a reason. Without a fuse if there’s a short somewhere you could have a fire. Fire bad- Humminbird Helix 7
It’s not required to run a fuse, but to be safe a 5 amp fuse won’t hurt anything. Easy to find one at a local auto parts store and use connectors with heat shrink. - Trolling motor suggestions
