For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports

Stitches, glue a lot of crying from her as well as me, a threat to the ER doc and we were finally discharged.

Man I really hate to hear that, I'm really sorry. Sending good vibes for a speedy recovery for all.

To shed a little light on it, you've got me curious about the ER doc, haha. Seems every time I've been in or around an emergency the same thing has happened.

Here are some pictures and the video from the giant I caught at LaCygne this weekend. She weighed 10 ls 15 oz and released to fight another day.

Fished LaCygne Sunday- I started up lake and noticed quite a few boats in the river section. I pitched flooded brush and water willows for a while ending up with one fish about 2lbs.

Everyone at Melvern was like "When did Curt get a PowerPole?" Maybe you should just cut your losses with the 360 and replace it with a PP that might actually work as it should  :Idontknow:

It's actually the same mounting bracket.

Im 100% positive you'll see a Talon on my boat by spring

I'm going to give the 360 a shot after it gets back, I've seen what it can do and it's a nice tool.

If I have more problems I'll dump it overboard and just mount the Talon on that bracket.

I'd like to keep it and add a "pole" because the cool thing about it is it works without the boat moving.

Anyone thinking about trying for the wipers at Olathe, don't. I went out there yesterday and it's up about 2' (but you can tell it's down at least a foot from where it crested at), and super muddy (white bait disappears at 6" or less). Hopefully we get some warmer, drier weather or the wiper bite at Olathe might be over before it really started  :cry4:

That sucks, I was wanting to get in on that. I was hoping to hit Lacygne this afternoon but it looks like I'll be setting up another stand for my day in the trees tomorrow.

Might wanna get out there before Saturday when the Hot Water Shootout guys beat it up.

I think a WC trip is in order this weekend. I'd rather be there any day of the week anyhow.

I got a 9.4 out of Lacygne last year at this time.

I'm pretty fond of that lake.

Yes you sure did! Hell of a fish. I just don't know enough to be dangerous there and it's a much longer drive for me than WC. You can guide me sometime.

Last year I probably could have this year, not so much.

Let me know and we can give it a shot.

To shed a little light on it, you've got me curious about the ER doc, haha. Seems every time I've been in or around an emergency the same thing has happened.

Long story short my 3 year old daughter was screaming daddy and just wanted to hold my hand. The doc kept nudging me out of sight, and my daughter would start screaming again. I explained that I could help keep her calm to limit her stress and his time... to which he told me if I didn't calm down he would have me removed.

My response was rude, abrupt and childish, but it was a passionate moment. I turned to him and explained there wasn't enough people in the room to remove me and if he tried he would be an ER patient, rather than a dr.

I'm not proud, but wasn't in a position to be screwed with either.

I hear you buddy, I'd be right there with ya. Hope she's doing as good as can be

I caught 2 that were easily over 9.4 on Friday on a jigging spoon. :laugh5:

Be careful with those jigging spoons and buffalo, I've heard it's a dangerous combination.

Stitches are out!!! :respect-059:  She did great! Hopefully all done with doctors for now just so long as the scaring isn't too bad.

You make it down there today? What was the water color?

It was good, clarity and fishing.

Dat's where I'll be tomorra.

With the wind they are predicting, it looks like it may just have to be Lone Star instead...  :cry4:

After today I certainly wouldn't suggest La Cygne

After today I certainly wouldn't suggest La Cygne

Backlashers will be pounding it tomorrow anyway  :protest:

Took the day off and spent it at Melvern. The water was pretty clear and the surface temp was 45-47. The wind was calm when I first got there. The good news was that I found fish in 4-8 feet of water on my first two spots: a secondary point and a hump in Turkey Creek. The bad news was that they would only hit a tube or the Ned. I caught 8 smallies between 14 and 15.5 inches and two dink larries the first hour before the wind kicked up and forced me off the spots. I couldn't find fish anywhere where the wind was such that I could effectively fish the slow baits. With the water clarity, temperature and wind, I thought the jerkbait bite would be on. So I worked them pretty hard in the wind. Nada. All told, the rest of the day I only caught one 12" smallie in 10 feet of water on the points near the marina campground.

I'm probably committed to yard work tomorrow but I may go out Sunday. Let me know how you guys do-- I'm tired of struggling with "Vern and am thinking about stepping out on her.
