Micah with the BURN!!!!!!! LOL!!!

HAHA

I wasn't referring to anyone is this thread or our group.  Everyone was super helpful when I was looking at boats and had questions.  But I take heat for the boat from people all the time.  Even people who do not own ANY boats.

Here are some pictures and the video from the giant I caught at LaCygne this weekend. She weighed 10 ls 15 oz and released to fight another day.

Fished LaCygne Sunday- I started up lake and noticed quite a few boats in the river section. I pitched flooded brush and water willows for a while ending up with one fish about 2lbs.

Me too. Crappie fishing on Clinton is nice and all, but I need that green fish fix. Think I might make the trek to WC Sunday.

Gonna be 10 degrees sunday morning... I hurt for you.

I've owned both.  Had an '01 procraft, and now you guys know I have a '10 triton tin bass boat.

Storage was a biggest issue for me with the fish n ski.  No rod storage whatsoever in the procraft, and the front deck wasn't even big enough to lay rods down when running.

If you do end up with a fish n ski, I know of one that's for sale in your price range.  It's an '04 skeeter SL 180 with 115hp yamaha.  It needs a few upgrades if you're wanting to really outfit it for bass fishing, but it's a solid boat.

Well that's changed significantly since the last time I looked at it.

Guess I'll just have to lull myself into a stupor until next weekend when it looks more bearable.

I'll be out in the rain tomorrow. I've got an emptyseat if anyone wants to be miserable with me. To add to the misery I'll probably be at La Cygne.

I'm jonesing enough to go to WC and fish in 20 degrees, however I'd rather fish in 44 degrees and rain.

I officially hate Kansas! I had an 8 hour continuing education class today. The other guy in the class flew up from Dallas just for the class. It turns out he was a bass guy and said Lake Fork was one of his favorite lakes.  He proceeded to tell me about a night that him and one of his guide buddies caught 3 that went over 15#!!!

Little off topic here, but more interested in hearing your guys' thoughts vs posting to some other thread. For you fish & ski owners, and guys that have spent significant time fishing out of them - what are  your biggest likes and dislikes? Ownership's not probable this year for me, but potentially not too far out and trying to weigh different options.

Fiberglass is a must... thinking bass boat first, fish and ski second.

I've owned two different fish and skis over the years and fished in many other bass boats. Micah, Drew, KSadler and Cole covered the pros and cons really well. I wanted to echo that the windshield is really nice in cold weather and the lack of storage (rod storage particularly) really sucks. The only difference I have is that rear deck space has not been a problem in either of my boats. You can find models with a decent rear deck if that's important to you.

Nitro, Stratos and triton make pretty decent fish and skis. Fishing deck and storage will always be an issue since that's the point in a fish and ski. Part lake cruiser, part bass boat. A compromise of both.

I had a 20.5' fish/ski that neither fished or skied very well.

it was slow, had a small casting deck and sat deep in the water.

The ski locker held rods fine and it had plenty of storage but it was no bass boat IMHO.

He also told me about watching a guy in a John boat catch a 17# on the spook he just gave the guy during a "big bass" tournament.

Keep in mind the biggest bag weighed in our KC Area tourneys this year was caught out of a fish n ski.

And mostly off the smaller back deck ;)

We've had a fish/ski for almost 20 years now, you've seen it. My biggest like is the windshield, keeps you warmer on those cold days running across the lake. Also keeps the spray off of you, which goes back to keeping you warm. The front deck on ours is a little small but that is also because it has a cutout, which I could easily modify if I felt like it. Because of the smaller deck I've gotten used to using a butt seat just for a little extra stability. Ours has two livewells which has come in handy when spring crappie fishing, but other than that we use the front livewell for "soda" cans. The rod/ski box is plenty big in ours and I can fit a good amount of rods in it. We only use it for skis now but whenever we take our vacation I'll load it with all my rods for the drive down. The back deck on ours is fairly good size. One problem with the windshield is that it's very difficult for a 3rd person to fish from the bottom deck, but if you get a boat with a windshield that doesn't extend too far back that wouldn't be too much of an issue. Skeeter is one fish/ski that comes to mind with a shorter windshield. The ride on ours is outstanding, cuts through waves very nicely and is very smooth. Gets on plane very quickly and we can get almost 50 mph with the 175 hp (original owner upgraded from 150 to 175). Not sure how the newer boats are, but ours has several nice storage hatches front and back.

Sorry I missed the dinner Saturday, too much holidays I guess.  Anyway, any discussion of friendly tournaments scheduled this year?  And, I'm three months away from retirement and have a pretty flexible schedule for the next couple of months.  If you want a fishing partner, let me know!

Front deck is responsible for making the backseater have a good time.  You put the boat in areas to catch fish, and the backseater is supposed to catch them... At least that's the way it works when my wife goes with me haha

Micah is a solid front seater. No doubt about it.
