I'm headed out to pleasanton east today to see if I can't get some cold water largemouth. Gonna throw all the cold water staples. I'm betting the surface temps are somewhere around 45. We'll see how I fare.

I'm guessing more like low to mid 50's, it was still 56 at Wyandotte last week. Good thing is that if that doesn't pan out you can always hit La Cygne too.

Here are some pictures and the video from the giant I caught at LaCygne this weekend. She weighed 10 ls 15 oz and released to fight another day.

Fished LaCygne Sunday- I started up lake and noticed quite a few boats in the river section. I pitched flooded brush and water willows for a while ending up with one fish about 2lbs.

Had another good day on Wolf today/yesterday/Friday, whatever you want to call it at 1am.

Hard telling what the temps were today. I forgot my humminbird unit at home. I caught around 20 fish in four hours or so.

7 or so on a firetiger trap, 1 on a jerkbait, 1 on a jig and the rest on the ned rig.

Ok guys, I know the basics of the ned rig, but I would like to know what exact line, jig, and senko style bait you are using thanks!

8 or 10lb Nanofil with a 10lb fluoro leader, about 2' long. I'm using either a 1/16oz ballhead jig or 3/32oz worm nose (mushroomhead) jig, and half a Zman Zinker. In a pinch I'll use half a BPS stick O but you'll only get a couple fish per bait with them instead of 20 with the Zinker. I also superglue the Zinker to the jighead, otherwise it will slip down the hook constantly.

What he said. Except Im using 10lb HiVis Braid, Fluoro leader. ;-)

Wife uses 7lb Sunline Shooter FC for main line. And I have 1/16 Outkast Money Jigs (Mushroomhead). Works pretty good.

Super Glue (Gel) is a must IMO.

spinning or baitcasting gear?

Spinning it a must with a sensitive M-ML rod.

If your not using Nanofil you are missing bites!

The jig head is too light to have any feel on a larger diameter line.

Thanks guys!

Anybody get out lately? I was wanting to get out today but the wife had different plans for me.......

I haven't been on this thread much this year, but I did get out today. Probably last time this year ... which is a shame because they still seem like they are wanting to eat.

My dad and I fished Melvern and I would guess between the 2 of us we probably caught 35ish. Mostly smallies, a couple largemouths, and an 8lbs Drum. Maybe 4 smallies in the 3lbs + range. Action seemed to come in waves with the bigger fish coming in the "dead" periods. I did catch my PB smallie of 4 lbs 7 oz. Was a nice day to be out there.

Everything was on a PB&J Ned Rig.

Thanks.. hoping to get out there again before it gets too cold. It is a 2 hour drive from my house!!!

Went to Lacygne today. Fished from 1 to 5 caught probably 25 LMB. Largest went 3 lb. Forgot camera :bushy-browed: so no pics.

Stupid question about the Ned Rig....

Does it matter what half of the bait you use? I cut mine in half and have been using the side that has the narrower tail section. Can you still use the other half? Don't really want to waste it if I can.

I made some up for the KC get together and accidently mixed them with another type of plastic bait and got a big melted together mess on my hands now!!!!

Sounds like a pretty good day to me!!! I am kicking myself for not getting out today. Sounds like the fish were biting good today

I don't think it matters. When I first started fishing it I was wondering the same thing. I quickly noticed I was getting bit using either half.

I use both ends, doesn't seem to matter to the fish.

Nice fish! How deep were they? Did you measure that fish?

What were you getting them on? Ned rig again?

basshunter0731 (Jon) and I fished his uncle's pond Tuesday and La Cygne Wednesday. Caught a bunch out of the ponds on jigs and traps. I tossed a 6" swimbait around a bit, had a good fish pull off and caught this little guy.

La Cygne was pretty decent for La Cygne. I had 20 bass, 1 white, several wipers, a channel cat, and a buffalo. Jon had 8 bass with a few near misses. Don't think he had any other fish, just bass. Shakyhead and a spinnerbait were our best baits. Caught a couple on shad fishing for wipers and Jon had one on a squarebill. The wipers and shad were really stacked up in the warm water. Didn't get any real monsters of anything but my first wiper was a pretty nice one, it ate a 4" swimbait.

Biggest bass was probably around 3lbs on a spinnerbait up the river a ways.

We caught them shallow and deep. I have a loose connection somewhere with my sonar so that crapped out about 30 minutes in. Seems like we had the most success when I set the boat about 2 casts worth from the dam. So fairly deep.

I didn't get a measurement.

What were you getting them on? Ned rig again?

Some hit cranks and others wanted a jig & pig, but the majority of them liked the Ned Rig.

Thinking of going back Friday if my neighbor can get a vacation day.

Is the Ned rig a year round bait? Is it best used around rocky areas or can you use it anywhere? I have only used it along the d**n at Melvern.
