08, new lure or tactic

Featured Replies

what lure or tactic is everybody wanting to perfect, or use this year, myself, i would like to get better @ spinnerbait, cranking, dropshotting and i am gonna try the stand up jig, oh and catch a bass over 5.5 my pb

5" flutter spoon fished on deep structure.

i definetly want to improve my cranking in overcast situations

My main goals this year are to get better and using maps, reading my graph better, and locating and following fish throughout the year.

1. Donkey rig

2. Basstrix and Basstrix nock offs

3. plastic craw experiment where i remove one pincer.

4. Lipless cranks- wanna master them

5. My "two prototype lures." Nothing too special, probably not as good as Brians' and not hard to make at all, but i do think they will do a pretty good job of catching fish under certain conditions.

Finesse for me as well...drop shot, split shot. Cranks too...

Jigs Jigs Jigs.  I just don't fish them enough.  I will force myself to.

Lipless cranks as well.

Learn to read and use my Lowrance 520c Better.  I've only scratched the surface of its knowledge.

Swimbaits (Big Baits) - I have so much money invested in it already, I need to become semi-confident in it.

Jigs - It's a known fish catcher, but I have yet to gain any confidence in this technique, probably cause I hardly throw it.

I also want to gain knowledge in using my electronics to my advantage.

Swimbaits and Deep Diving cranks.

i am going to start using a lot of bigger baits but my main tactic i want to work on is jerkbaits and spinnerbaits. topwater is also a something i want to master. i want to start using a lot more swimbaits. i need to get better at carolina, texas, and dropshot rigs.

for me this year is gonna be the year of the jig.....i did ok with it last year and have been doing good with it so far this year, but i really want to get it down pat......i also want to catch a 5lber plus.  my PB is 4.1lbs...also would like to do better with buzzbaits.

my man knows whats up. lets get after some winning fish this year. Ive done figured out shaky heading and drop shotting. Figured out how not to win around here using them as well.

Swimbaits, already have a smaller one in the box and waiting for the tax return check on the mail to get one from 4bizz, mattlures, and then an okuma rod.

Deep water spoons.

8-)

Jigs and Swimbaits.  I'm gonna catch some HAWGS this year.  6 and 5.5 lbs were my big ones last year(caught within an hour of each other).....want to at least break 6.

Mainly, I've got to become more proficient at dropshotting.  Also, to try out my 3 new lure modifications recently created to beat cabin fever: An Ika/Stickbait modification, a soft plastic fluke modification, and a double Kastmaster jigging spoon.

Well my average fish went up about a pound when I start jig-fishing most of the time, so I hope it will go up even more when I start swimbait fishing this year. I don't care about less fish, as long as it gets me 5. I also plan on fishing a lot more off-shore this year.

Deep Clear Water techniques.

Cold Front experiments.
