Maryland State (Tidal) Record Bass

Do any of you Marylanders know why separate records are kept for Freshwater and Chesapeake Bay? There are other states that have tidal water that combine things.

I knew about the state record bass.  I worked with a guy that claimed it was his Uncle.  I also thought that a 10# fish was caught from the same area within the last two years.  I don't know why the records are split.  I

have a friend that I will see tomorrow that might know.  I'll ask.

All i can figure is because of diff regulations for the same species in diff waters tidal/non tidal :-?

There is another thread on this same topic. The records are seperate because the fisheries are seperate.
