Im in frederick like 25 mins away. umm let me see you could be fairly close to the susqehana witch is an Awesome smallie river. Not sure on the spelling of that. There is the potomac river witch has some decent largemouths. There is a ton of lakes just check out the MD DNR website. PM dude we can trade spots or what not

Sorry, haven't been on to much recently.

You didn't say what kind of fishing you like, or if you are a boater.

If you prefer smallmouth you are in luck you have anywhere on the portion of the potomac in the hagerstown area, and the lower portion of the monacacy in frederick, the portion between buckeystown and the potomac, this portion of the river is a trophy area no bass are supposed to be kept.

If its largemouth you will have to travel a little more, there are some reservoirs like tridelphia, rocky gorge, and a couple others. Also have Black Hills Regional park in Germantown.

Send me a private message if there is anything I can do to help.

Welcome to the boards!

As Brian mentioned, the Potomac for smallies around Hagerstown is pretty good. If you have a smaller boat, I'd stay away from Dam 4 just because of all the big cruiser boats there! Most of them have no respect for the smaller vessels. For largemouths, there are 3 small lakes that I fish from time to time. Greenbrier, Big Pool and Blairs Valley. Hope this helps!

You forgot to add that two dummies just went over Dam#4 in their boat!

I am planning on going out Sunday morning with a buddy but he is not sure if he can make it? If he cannot go I will send you a message to see if you want to go?

Speaking of Dam #4 what is everyone's thought of putting in below the dam and fishing at the base of it. I have a 14ft jon, I have seen people there but that doesn't mean its a good idea....

yeah, 2 just went over Dam 4, a couple weeks ago the son of a maryland state delegate went over Dam 5 on a pwc.

thanks everyone for responding. below dam 4 for gets really, really skinny. i took my step son there and we could rock hop to just about the middle of it. whats up Munkin thanks for the offer, my 12 year step son is in town so i would need someone with 2 open seats. he has never caught a smallie. or a freshwater bass for that matter. so if anyone wants to hook up a kid for his first smallie let me know.

What's up Skippy?  LOL that was funny.

Anyway, I am from Odenton Maryland which is about an hour east of you.  If you like freshwater fishing there is a lot to be done right south of you on the Potomac.  Good smallmouth, channel cats, walleye, bluegills and even a few musky.

Deep Creek Lake isn't to far away from you and that is my favorite lake in the state to fish in.  You need a boat but if you go there on a weekend which is not a holiday you will have no problem renting one.  There are smallies, walleye, perch, bluegill, and pike in there.
