I'm not new to fishing, just new to the world of lures and artificial bait.  I was in BPS picking up some plastic worms and random lures I wanted to try, and I realized I needed a way to organize everything.  

I was going to buy just a small box for spinner baits and crank baits (I'm not exactly sure how to organize the plastics in all of their little bags) but I realized that my tackle collection will only get bigger.

Realistically, how big of a tackle box do I need?  Is there something that is really versatile and easy to organize depending on what lake I'll be on etc?  Anyone have any recommendations for a good "first" tackle box for everything?

I have all my baits in Plano 3700 boxes organized:shallow cranks,mid-depth cranks,top-water,jigs,etc then those go into a large bag.

My plastics are stored in the bag they came in but organized by type:worms,lizards,creatures,etc and put into large zip-lock bags then into its own tackle bag

have yet to take it out

I kinda lean toward the soft packs with insert boxes and outside zipper pockets to store a variety of tools etc. The BIGGER the better. You will fill it up.

I use bags for plastics.

As for other tackle I store them in Plano 1444.

I know many guys who hate that box because of the flipside inside. Takes some getting used to.....

But I think it's a good box that allows you to have a little bit of everything when going tourney fishing from the back of the boat.... or even for a quick-organized fishing trip.

This box is not too big and not too small either.

I quit using a tackle box a couple years ago.  Nowdays I just toss a few plastic boxes in the boat.

I have the large Okeechobee bag and I absolutely love it! I continually take things out of my other 4 hard shell tackle boxes to put in it, depending on what type of lures I want to use on any given day. The smaller bag is also nice and I may end up with one of them too. With the Plano 3600/3700 boxes, all you really need is a heavy duty canvas type bag to carry them in. Something like a gym bag or equipment bag would suffice nicely. The Okeechobees also have end and side pouches/pockets to carry additional smaller boxes, sunglasses, cell phones, etc., etc.

I LOVE the BPS XPS Stalker backpack.  I use 3600 boxes in it.  The large BPS Finesse Binders fit the same way as the 3600 boxes and a spinner bait binder fits on top of it all.  The finesse binder has worms, senkos, and hooks.  The outside pockets of the backpack has flukes, tubes, trailers, and creature baits along with my digital scale.  

I just got a Falcon FTO V6 Speed Bag and some FTO boxes and really like it.  It holds 4 FTO 700 series boxes, has a zippered pouch on the outside that will hold quite a few bags of soft plastics, and has other pouches on the outside you can put smaller boxes in.  A little pricey but I think its well worth the price.

cabelas makes an advanced angler binder that holds plastics in pages. It's the deminsions of a 3700 box. I have two that fit in my cabelas magnum bag fins with room to grow.
