  1. Well it wasn't too bad. I started with a spinnerbait with no luck, but once the sun started going down I started hitting them pretty good on a buzzbait and *** strokin toad. Nothing with much size but atleast I didn't get skunked! I tried working soft plastics and jigs through this stuff, but its some thick moss. Im wondering if my best bet will be to go at early morning and late evening using topwaters.
  2. Well I got permission to fish a small pond close to my house. I am going to go out this evening and give it a try. The farmer who owns it says its stocked with catfish, bluegill, and largemouth. He also said that its full of moss in the bottom of the pond. Never had a situation like this so I am looking for some help. How would you all approach this? Thanks
  3. I went with the Shimano Sahara. I searched it and found nothing but good things. I will go with a pflueger when I put my next spinning rig together.
  4. TW has the rod for $150 plus they have free shipping. http://www.***.com/descpageRDCSHIMANO-SCRSBR.html
  5. I use an Abu Garcia 5500 C3 for my crankbaits and have no complaints. I can cast my cranks a mile with it. Its the only round reel I use.
  6. Well the the reel foot (graphite) on my shimano sonora is bent now. Now I am in the market for a new spinning reel and need some suggestions. I am willing to try any brand and model. Just need to keep the price below $100. This reel will be used for t-rigged plastics. Thanks
  7. x2...I bought two reels off ebay in the past two months and have no complaints!
  8. It will be mostly for throwing t-rigged plastics with 1/8 - 1/4 oz weights.
  9. I have been using spinning gear for all my soft plastic fishing but I want to start using a casting set up now. I have the reel already, a revo s. I have found a couple rods I like so far and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them. I am also open to suggestions on other rods. The catch is that I only want to spend around $100. Here are the two rods I have found so far: Shimano Compre 6'10" MHXF Falcon Lowrider Weightless Worm Special 6'7" MHXF
  10. I'm an apprentice wireman for the IBEW and I love it. I've been doing electrical work for the last 4 years and have no complaints at all. Its a good trade to get into. Always need electricians!
  11. Have you tried getting on IDNR's website to see what lakes are around you?
  12. No, all I use is the yo zuri hybrid ultra soft and its a fluorocarbon and nylon blend.
  13. Well I finally got a Revo S. I really like the Silver Max that I have alot so I figured I should give the Revo a try. I wasn't sure how much better it would be than the Silver Max before I ordered it. Now that I have it though I think there is quite a bit of difference in just the feel of it and smoothness. I just got done spooling it up with 12lb Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft and cant wait to use it!
  14. Well I switched all my line to Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft this year and am very happy with it so far. My first rig is an Abu Garcia 5500 C3 on a BPS 6'6" medium crankin stick with 12lb Yo Zuri. I use this for my crankbaits and topwaters. My second is an Abu Garcia Silver Max on a Daiwa Procyon 6'6" heavy rod with 12lb Yo Zuri. I use this for jigs and frog baits. My last is an Abu Garcia Revo S on a BPS Extreme 6'6" medium heavy rod with 12lb Yo Zuri. I use this for pretty much everything else....spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, rattletraps, etc. They are nothing fancy but get the job done. Hope this helps!
  15. x2....I also own an 05 Silverado with the 5.3 and have no complaints with gas mileage. I will also guarantee anyone that the 5.3 is one strong running motor.
  16. Where in Central Illinois are you located? I am also from Central Illinois. Sorry I'm no help to your question.
  17. I agree 100%. Like a stated before i wasn't trying to step on way2slow's toes either, but as a proud member of the IBEW and being an electrician for 4 years I like to think I know what I'm talking about sometimes! ha ;D
  18. Your theory on batteries is probably correct im not saying that. All im saying is that #8 AWG copper wire can only carry a maximum amount current (40 AMPS). It doesn't matter if its solid, fine stranded or any other stranded. All #8 AWG copper wire is rated for the same maximum amount of current which is 40 amps.
  19. If this is true and it does pull 42 amps I would bump it all up to a #6 AWG.
  20. I'm not trying to critisize, but this paragraph is wrong. A #8 AWG copper wire can only carry a certain amout current whether it be solid or any kind of stranded. All #8 AWG copper wire is rated for a maximum of 40 amps no matter if its stranded or solid. Any kind of #8 copper can carry 40 amps. 8 AWG is 8 AWG.
  21. I would suggest the Abu Garcia Silver Max. I do own this reel and think its a nice reel for the money ($60). Although the only downside is that it does not have an aluminum frame but I still like it alot. I can cast a mile with it and it is very smooth. Also, I might suggest the Revo S. I just ordered this reel so I have no experience with it. I have heard nothing but great things about this reel though! Tackle Warehouse has it for $100 plus free shipping. http://www.***.com/descpageRLCABUGAR-AGRS.html
  22. Its cool man, I dont have to ride with anyone. Just figured if some of us have the chance to car pool we might as well!
  23. Welcome to BR! The baits look really nice and I too am always looking to try new baits!
