Lake Redman, PA.

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I'm new to the board but was just wondering if anyone is fishing Lake Redman. I'm from Maryland but drive by Redman occasionaly. If you are catching fish out of Redman, what kind? I plan on fishing it this spring but didn't know what to target. TIA for any input.

to the forums. I never fished there but someone will post some info for you I'm sure.

WELCOME jmh285!  we have a few from the Maryland line that fish  lake Redman and its sister lake Williams. It has agood supply of Walleye, Stripers, Hybrid stripers and the list goes on. I believe I'm the only one who produces structure maps of these lakes. You can contact me also > goto my profile and e-mail if you like. Or PM me for questions or my site info.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I've never caught a Walleye so that should be interesting. I was hoping Redman would be full of smallmouths. I fish Loch Raven Reservoir regularly and the smallies are pretty scarce compared to the largemouths, so I was hoping to find somewhere local where they would be more plentiful.

Do you know of any places in that area that are easily fished from shore that produce a good number of smallies?

The river would be # 1 in my book but for lakes > I don't know of that many unless your fishing Raystown lake. Not that Redman, Pinchot and Williams don't have any , just not at that catch rate and lacking in moving water.

Not too far from Lake Redman is Lake Marburg (Codorus State Park). Never caught any Smallies there, but the Largemouth fishing can be pretty good.

Welcome to the boards jmh285 and R@ngerman195vs!

While I haven't caught any smallies at Marburg, I know there are some in there (if memory serves me right, there are walleye in there as well). So if you're looking for more of a mixed bag of species, Marburg is probably a better choice for you.

Not familiar with Redman but I know Loch Raven like the back of my hand.  Other then feather island on Loch Raven there isn't much smallie fishing.

Not to stray you from Redman but try Liberty in Carrol County MD.  Nice smallie fishing and if you have the boat to get up far into the canyons you can hit some good LMB too.  I also believe the state record fresh Striper for MD came out of there a few years ago.

Pretty Boy has some smallies too.

Do you have your own boat for the electric only lakes (Loch Raven, Liberty, and Pretty Boy)?  If so I can give you some good coordinates for all three for smallies.

Fish MD,

Yeah, I agree completely with Feather Island at Loch Raven. As a matter of fact, the only smallie I've caught out of Raven came from right around Feather Island.

I think I will try Liberty Reservoir this summer. I've fished there before but have only caught lmb.

I do not have a boat for the reservoirs but my friend does and I plan on fishing with him this summer, so if you wouldn't mind sending my those coordinates I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks

Do you need permits to fish and launch boats in Liberty, Loch Raven, and Prettyboy Reserviors? Give me your opinions as to time of year and whether they are worth fishing. Thanks. MikeS

There is a boat permits for Prettyboy and Liberty that you can get now with the lake opening March 1.  Loch Raven has a seperate permit that goeson sale Aril 3 but the rent boats too.

Libert is good, Prettyboy is tough and OK but Loch Raven is amazing and will rival any fishing hole in MD for LMB.

I'll let you tag along with me if you want.  I'm always looking for people to fish with.  Or anyone for that matter.
