So there is a huge swimbait craze in New England and my jig just can't just can't hang with those lunkers. So what are your top producers and colors?

(I don't want to spend $300 on one Armageddon either  ;D )

sebile magic swimmer is pretty sweet and only $20, thats pretty much the most i would spend on a swim bait, other than that i usually used soft swim baits berkley hollow bellys and luck-e-strikes are alright. The BPS in foxboro doesn't carry sebile... maybe cabelas in conn. im not sure i got mine when i was in minnesota over the summer.

Sebiles for hard swimbaits and Basstrix for soft ones. I dont like to get crazy buying the expensive ones.

WTH..your becomming a SWBTF!!!!!!!! LMAO

Well I need to do something new since you got into my drop-shot stuff... ;D

i've had some luck in PA on a magic swimmer and a Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper

I have several of them...different sizes, and if you watch the auctions, you can get them for short money. Caught a few nice ones on them, but never really got into it. Maybe this year!!

Good luck!!

Hey Tin, my Tru Tungsten 4" created quite a stir on Quidy, and for only 20bux its not bad.  The new 5" in baby bass I think may be a killer at Wordens, My MS Mini Slammers were getting slammed but just couldnt hook up.

BTW, you shud head down to QLB and buy a kayak, they're liquidating eveything, got mine for half price.

Slammer (7") 7"  1.8oz  Dark Rainbow & Perch. $32.99

Original Set up/Unweighted, Small - 6.5" 1/0 Owner Treble 2.15oz $11.99

Spro BBZ-1 Swimbait 6" - $19.95 Color of your choice

H-N-H, I like the mini slammer, but I do think Im going to pick up some of the BBZ's and Rising Son's. I like to throw the SB's alot but really dont feel as tho I need to decicate rod for them, thats one reason I stay with the smaller ones.

I can fully understand your reasoning. Personal preference for me and never leave home w/o my SB set-up. The RS has caught many fish over 4lbs for me this past season, and I have a very good feeling that the BBZ Jr will be catching a lot of SM hawgs this coming season, after seeing it's size and action in person.

I'm not a huge fan of the Mini Slammer. The 7" 1x catches way more fish from 1-7lbs, including Smallmouth. There are also a few modifications that can be done to get more or less action of out of the slammer, depending on what the fish want. One of those modifications would definately be to swap out the original hooks and use Owner Stinger #41 or 42's. :D

The Mad Scientist does it again. That looks like a Bruins Buzzjet to me.

Which is good, considering 99% of the Bass I catch are all based in New England, and 99.9% are Bruins fans. When I get the Hat trick on it I'll postem up for ya! :D

Tin, I've had some good luck with 9" Slammers night fishing Indian last year.I use the Hitch or Black depending on moon phase. I picked up a Mattlures hard bluegill this winter, looking forward to soft water to give it a whirl.

Tin,

While it really is a topwater , the wooden Black Dog Baits 6" 'Lunker Punker' has sleyed them for me.

Moves a lot of water, creating quite a stir on top, bringing up some 'better ' fish for me. Walk it likea Sppok, and have your nitro pills ready[if you have any heart issues].

I just ordered some of the [new this year] plastic injected versions of the same that are much lighter in weight than the wood ones.

The BBZ Shad also has done well for me, and casts on any MH to H rated rod with no sweat.

MS Slammers in 7 inch were my first swimbait, and they have been very good to me, giving up some real good fish.

I also have the Mini Slammer, and have not encountered the failed hookups that some here have mentioned.

I also just ordered a BDB 'Shellcracker' in the 5 inch wooden version, but again, this is really a wake bait for on top.

Interesting.....

Tin,

I could meet you at some point up on Candlewood [or other waters near that] and show you some of my 'toys' out on the water, at some point, when the water warms up.

Right now, they would just slide across the ice, and you would not get any bites on them either.

{LOL}
