The bay has skunked me lately as well. Give it a little while to warm up... pre-spawn should be there soon

Ok cool, a couple questions..

-a buddy of mine and I want to hit up one of the western finger lakes within the next month (conesus, honeoye etc..) what one do you guys suggest?

-Has anyone seen the Versus spawn map? If not, go to versus.com (tv station) and look under fishing for their spawn map. How accurate is this?

I havent been able to get out yet this year. But my dad said he caught 3 small ones on 5 casts out at port bay this past saturday 5/2. So it seems like theyre starting to bite

Yeah I've swamped with school work and finals. Will be going a lot more here within the next couple weeks. Have you ever had success with jig fishing at the ponds in durand eastman park?

I was thinking about heading out to the Durand Ponds or Mendon Ponds this weekend or next. I havent had a chance to get out yet, I cant wait.

Does anyone know if you can put small boats in the Durand Ponds? I have only fished from the bank and now that I have a pelican with a trolling motor I was curious.

might want to check with DEC or town of Irondiquoit.But I believe if there is a restriction it applies to outboard motors,if your using a 12 volt battery operated trolling motor, should be fine.

Trolling motor or padle power. In the summer it gets tough to use a trolling motor in there as the weeds come right up to the top almost all over.

Durand ponds can use a boat have seen many people doing that, only electric motors though. And jig should work fine, I am not a big jig fisherman but tubes have done wonders there, so I am sure a jig would be the same. Make sure you have some good polarized glasses if you forget yours you a pretty screwed. Sight fishing is by far the best way to fish those ponds. Although fish get spooked easily. Senkos are by far the best thing there, especially because often shrubs and trees grow over the water and the fish love to go up under so just skip a senko way up in there. Spro frogs are a blast once the duck weed sets in, this usually happens during the summer and it takes over. Also if you wanna try for some pike I have seen some huge ones come up and take out sunfish. I have caught 2-3 5+lb fish from those ponds and an abundance of 2's and 3's.

The fish in my avatar was 5.5 on a digital scale caught from those ponds, best part was she was in a group of three and she was the smallest one.

I just noticed in your sig you are part of the Rochester Bassmasters, I joined this past Jan. Seems like a good group of guys.

Unfortunately I don't have a boat so I just fish from shore at durand.

How in the heck do you get a boat down into the ponds there??

Yeah Rochester bass-masters have a great group of guys. I just fish for fun, at least for now.

And to get a boat down there, well I used a canoe once and we kinda found a part of the bank that went somewhat into the water and just threw it in then hopped in. You can ask my friend Andamtoft on here cause I think he has used a porta bote on them.

Been out on Conesus and Canandaiqua good days both times..

The Rochester bassmasters usually fish around 7 tournaments a year, some are to day and some are one day.

fished Sodus Bay!! Did well!! having trouble with Conesus though!!

Fished honeoye lake for the first time the other day (5/21). Got out there at about 3pm and fished until sundown. Fished the northeastern shore first then went over to the western shore and worked our way south as it got later in the day. Between my buddy and I we caught about 10 bass a piece, mostly dinks with nothing going over 2 lbs. Caught them all on coffee tubes and a Bomber Model A crank (8-10ft). Seeing as how I rarely fish from a boat my goal for the day was to catch at least one fish and not get skunked.  For our next trip we're thinking of either Conesus or Canadaigua

I fished Conesus a week ago Saturday. Water temps were in the mid to high 50's in the morning. I stayed on the water until about 10:00, primarily in the northern end of the lake. Save for the lone pike that stole my Jimmy Houston Rat-l-trap, I got skunked. I've never had much luck on Honeoye with fish of any size. If you can find a pattern on Conesus, the better fish are there.

Yeah from what i've heard/read Honeoye is known for its consistency in that the hogs are few and far between while Conesus is  hit or miss and if you hit, you hit big..

Both lakes, look shallow, right now. 

Most everything in new york is low. I cant even get the boat hoist out deep enough on port bay to hold my boat. And I heard the St. Lawrence was low, one of my friends parents could barely get there big cruiser out.

I love the Bay grew up there..hav'nt fished it this year but hear the walleyes are going nuts!!
