Fountainhead 8-30-08

Featured Replies

I decided to hit up the Rez on Saturday morning. The conditions were perfect. After three motor exchanges at the rental office we were off, slammin fish on a black blue jig. We boated seven until the clouds opened up and the sun came out. My buddy beat me in numbers 5-2, but I had the two biggest.

Beautiful fish and nice job Allyn! I have no confidence in myself at the rez, but I'll try it again soon.

Great job!!! ;)

Nice job on the catch :). Went out there today with with Wife and youngest and didn't have any luck once again  >:(..I have truly given up on fountainhead. Although the water is shared I have far better luck at Lake Ridge rather than there... plus its cheaper to rent a jon boat and motor especially if you only plan on fishing for 5-6 hours.

Thanks for the comments guys. Jules I'll have to check it out. I didn't know lake ridge rented.

What depth did you get these fish?

  • Author

Most likely 4-10 feet. It seems that they weren't actively feeding on baitfish. They wouldn't touch Chatterbaits, cranks or rattletraps, just hitting on jigs and 10inch worms.

I don't know very much about this place. Without depth finder or topo I can't stray too far from shore. I tend to listen to the weather more and more lately. My buddy asked if I wanted to go back yesterday, knowing that it was going to be a clear day I said no. Needless to say he got skunked.

Nice Fish!

Did your buddy get 4 keepers?

If so you guys might have had a nice limit :)

  • Author

Yeah, he had four keepers and one dink.

Thanks dude, hope your getting some too.

Great fish.  Nice to see Fountain continues to produce.

Nice fish! I need to give the rez a shot, seems like a nice place to fish

Thanks for the comments guys.

Simon, you should check it out. It doesn't sting as much when you have your own boat and get skunked, as opposed to spending 50 bucks on a rental jon.

you should invest in a trolling motor or two it will make renting boats much cheaper and if you get two TM then you can go farther, bring a few batteries ;)

I'm pretty sure thats what we're going to do. Hopefully we'll have everything ready to go by next season.

Sweet fish Slomoe. Those are beautiful. Hope I catch some like that this Sunday ;)

I'm sure you'll slay em. Good luck anyways  ;)

Haha thanks man! I see you had some motor trouble? They really need to get ontop of that. They have some issues. They need to get a whole new stock of batteries and trolling motors because every post I see someone has a dead battery or messed up motor ::) And that is NOT a short walk up them steps with a 40 lb battery.

;D here's how it went

1st motor-fishing line wrapped up in the prop.

2nd motor-the wiring shorts at battery. Melts the insulation and almost starts a fire

3rd motor-head full of water, shorts out 100 yards from shore. We row back
