I will be in Fl. from WV. to get away from the cold and snow for a week and hope to do some fishing on Stick Marsh and Farm 13.  This will be my first time to fish in Fl. any help would be appreciated.

The best advice I can give is hire George Welcome for the day if you never fished the farm before.  

Get a guide.

It is a tough place to fish if you haven't ever fished it before. It took me about 3 trips to start catching fish in the Marsh. Once you know where the fish hold, you will love. Also the lake can be very dangerous.

I have fished with George on two occasions. He is a first class guy and knows the lake as he has fished there  in all kinds of conditions. You will be a better fisherman after having spent a day with him.

Yep, even a lot of guys that live close enough to fish the lake find it very challenging.

George has warned on several posts over the years about the dangers you face.

I think he has posted some other spots in the general area for bank fishing, but not

So, unless you hire a guide, I suggest finding other water to fish.

Put "stickmarsh" in google. Click on the FIRST site that comes up. Now, whatever you do, avoid this so called "guide" at all costs. This is the best advice anyone could ever give on hiring a guide there. If I save just one person from wasting their money on him, the ridicule I'm going to receive from Muddy for making this post is all worth it.

Randy Sanders had a great day of fishing. Boated 45 bass between the 3 of us.  He is a great person and can put you on fish.  We will go with him our next trip down from WV.

Yes LC, it was stocked with Redfish. They can do quite well in fresh water, however it didn't work in the Marsh.

I was watching In-Fisherman on TV and I saw the host fishing a Rat-L-Trap in a stump field.  He was also catching them on live minnows.  Hope this helps you out a little bit.
