Hey everyone, I haven't been around much lately, busy with college and what not.  The cabin fever is starting to hit hard as I'm sure you all can attest to.  Since late August when school started up I've only been able to get out a few times.    Thankfully I was able to get out today and do some striper fishin.  One of my good friends dad has a real nice boat so we get to go out a few times a year.  He's a serious rockfisherman and he knows his stuff  .  The boat's down at VA Beach I forget the name of the exact area we were fishin in.  We were trolling and picked up some nice ones.  I'm the tallest one on the right and the guy in the grey shirt is board member phishinfillip

Sorry I must've missed this earlier.  The biggest was right around 30, a few in the 25 range, and others closer to 20.

P.S. anyone heading that way I can recommend an excellent guide who fishes almost exclusively jigs.

Oh please, if you eat them they have to die.  Besides I know the VA Dept of Inland Fisheries recommends that you keep the strippers that you catch, as they will die if released, at least during certain months.  I don't know if there is any truth to that, but the dept wants them kept.  I found the quote from the internet her it is

Anglers should not release legal size striped bass during the summer months. The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries encourages striped bass anglers to quit fishing after catching their limit in the months of June-September (see Regulations section for split season regulations). Most of these fish released during the summer months will not survive! A voluntary catch-and-release (no harvest) season is recommended for striped bass from October through May to help build population abundance and fish size.

Woah didn't know that...I wonder why...

Yeah I just ignored that comment at first but theres a different mindset amongst striper/rockfish anglers concerning catch and release.  I gladly throw all the largemouth I catch back but amongst striper fishermen its always about catching your limit, and once you've got it you usually head in for the day.  Stripers are great eating and keeping them is a routine practice.
