Central Virginia Fishing Meetup...

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

Not sure if it's been done before, or something but would anyone be interested in having a little meet up to do some fishing?  Possibly a day tournament or something, folks with boats/canoes/yaks can come out, take out those that might need a ride.

   Any Central Virginia takers?

I'm definitely interested!  We do have some for Northern VA, but I don't think I've ever met any fellow fisherman in richmond before besides Sam

Sure, depending on my schedule.

All weekends in May are taken for me, between my wife's great adventure at Magic Dragon Days at St. Michael's; the NASCAR race; LSU Mardi Gras Float in the Bon Air Historical Days Parade; LSU Crawfish boil; placing flags on the graves of fallen heroes at the Amelia Vets Cemetery; and the Memorial Day weekend.

And all my weekends in June seem to be taken between Yute Day; American Legion Flag Retirement Ceremony; and two tournaments (James River and Rappahannock River).

I have July 18 open for now!!!!

So you all have fun and let us know how you all do.  :D   :D   :D

Sounds like a plan. I've had the pleasure of living/fishing up here for the past 10 years, and ironically im from Chesterfield VA!lol What days work best?

I too am game.  What body of water are we talking?

Wanna hit the James up for the Shad Run this weekend (4/25) or possibly swift creek res?

I'm usually down for Sunday's, the only Saturday I have in the next few weeks is May 2nd.  I'm a photographer, and it's the busy season.

am a beginner and am up for it...

hope to learn from the pros here.

My gear consists of a shimano road and spinning reel and i bait with nightcrawlers.

Saturday/Sunday this week would be great.

im game - saturdays are best for me!

Sounds good to me.

Heya guys, I'll be on the water on sun 4/26 from 3-dark on the James for shad right around the 95 bridge if anyone's interested!

Also will be there on Friday at around 5pm (hopefully) til dark

See ya there!

Im in Hanover, but im game for some fishing, let me know when and where.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have a two-man cataraft... if anyone wants to float the New River on a Tuesday or Saturday for smallmouth bass, send me a message.

I'm not a guide, but I do catch fish... and the trip is FREE.   :)

There are a lot of places to meet and fish in the greater Richmond area.

I would not suggest the James River.

I would suggest a pond or small lake, like Rooty or Three Lakes Park or up at Hanover Courthouse Park and that small pond or somewhere in Chesterfield County.

Maybe we should wait until the weather clears one weekend as this weekend we are having thunderstorms.

Just a suggestion.

Any pond recommendations??????  :)

There are a few ponds up the road from Rooty, which has a lot of crap in it right now.  Every cast you come out with weeds and algae.  That was about a month ago...maybe it has cleared up by now.

Richmond = central VA?   :-?

Burley, I would think you are correct.

We could meet closer to your area but you are way out in western Virginia and most of the guys are in eastern Virginia.

Let's see what plays out.  :)

Richmond is anything but central VA.  Richmond is eastern VA.  Central VA is Roanoke/Lynchburg.

But, if the state ends at Roanoke, I guess Richmond is central VA.

I'm interested in coming.

Actually, the state ends at Blacksburg and Virgina Tech.

Maybe you could move it over to Lynchburg but usually it is Blacksburg.  :D

Is this meet up still going on, was looking forward to it but haven't heard much about a time or place, let me know.
