Father and son drown fishing a tournament on Okeechobee.

Featured Replies

We were coming into the weigh in yesterday to find a Storm in front of the ramp with crime scene tape around it, apparently the father fell over board while fishing, and when the son jumped in to save him the son had a heart attack. I remember seeing them before the blast off of the tourny, the reason I remember they had they same year Storm as I have and it was in great shape, what a horrible thing to come in to after a great day on the lake.

Prayers for the family.

I am always concerned with club members and others fishing tournaments getting into trouble on the water.

A number of my club's members have heart problems while others have other medical conditions.

And they fish alone. So if something happens, they are out of luck.

I have the SPOT that I take with me as a safety measure and I hope everyone else has some way to contact the authorities in case of an emergency.

Some places do not have cell phone reception, which I have found to be the rule on some lakes and rivers in Virginia.

I sincerely hate when anyone is injured, gets ill, or loses their life while fishing.  This is another tragic example of what could go wrong on the water.

Prayers to the family for a very unfortunate incident.

Safety first, guys.

Sad, sad news.

He just posted asking about okeechobee last week. I remember because he lived in Tequesta and that is right up the road from me.

Tragic.

Be careful out there guys.

Not to sound insensitive, but the only thing shocking about this incident is that it's not a lot more common.

My wife and I often ride without a life preserver, so if either of us lost our lives to negligence, it would merely serve

as a reminder to others about something they already know "Wear your life vest at all times on the water"

Roger

How very sad indeed. My heart and prayers also go out to the family and friends of these two....May the Lord comfort them as only He can.
