In certain lakes that have heavy pressure, Spinnerbaits are junk because everyone has thrown 'em. The fish have seen them every day for the past 10 years.

I was not around in the early 80's, but they work great for me!  

Spinnerbaits always have and always will be productive.  No tackle box is complete without them.

It all depends on the body of water fished and the time of year. There are some lakes I will never take a spinnerbait and there are some lakes I will never go without.

The fall in popularity means that if you throw one there's a heck of a good chance one will nail it. Bass are smart critters, if they see and strike the same lures from different people they learn that they shouldn't hit it.

However if a lure is not presented to them much they will fall for it! I love the spinner-bait, it is a lure that can be used in all occasions and in many presentations.

My #1 go to bait is the spinner-bait!

Hank Parker has a video out on spinnerbaits, and it is very educational although the overall production is dumb.

I have caught bass using spinnerbaits in ponds, lakes and rivers.

I have caught big bass and small bass.

I have caught catfish, bowfin and pike using spinnerbaits.

Basspro48 has me sold on the War Eagle brand which I am going to throw this year. They are beautiful spinnerbaits.

So keep your entire arsnel of weapons available and when the wind starts to make a little turmoil on top of the water consider throwing your white and chartreuse spinnerbaits.

Just read, read, read; watch, watch, watch; experiment, experiment and experiment.

And you will fall in love with your spinnerbaits. ;D

I have not thrown my spinnerbaits away for sure, they are a great tool you can do a lot with them and none of it is wrong. It's just in my local waters they are not as effective as they used to be. I think that is because bass do learn to avoid lures that they have been caught on as one of you said. I have started to use the shallow running cranks for my search baits now and in applications where I used to throw a spinnerbait. I don't like them as well but they seem to be more productive at this time. I have the Hank Parker DVD and I learned a lot from it but it could have been better.

Of all the fishing DVD's I have, the best one is KVD's "Advanced Spinnerbait Tactics", it's 70 minutes of valuable information.

P.S. the spinnerbait hasn't lost any popularity here. Still as productive as ever.

To add to MALTESE FALCON, KVD's first video (Proven Spinnerbait Techniques) is well worth the price as well. For me, when the water temps hit 50 and up, I will ALWAYS have a spinnerbait tied on at least one rod!!!!!

Did you see the article in Bassmaster where Jay Yelas contributed 70% of his tournament fish to spinnerbaits?  He is not know as a master spinnerbait fisherman, but says it just comes through time and time again.  It was a great article; he revisited each tournament on the trail, what the conditions were, and what spinnerbait he used.  It was in that article that I learned a lot of pro's use black and black/chartreuse spinnerbaits.  

Spinnerbaits work great still. In some fisheries they aren't as effective as in others, but they are a lure you should never go without.

52% of my bass last year were caught on spinnerbaits and most of our lakes r heavily fished with them

good old home made do the trick . I use blade combos that most bass haven't seen

There is nothing like a spinnerbait bite 8-) 8-)
