best swimbait??

Featured Replies

i have never really used swimbaits before and i been seein that they seem to keep on catchin big fish. What would you guys say the best swim bait is for the cheapest price?? also some tips and hints on how to fish? when? conditions? Thanks

You can't worry about price too much when buying swimbaits since a giant fish is priceless.  Best swimbaits that are reasonably priced though are the Mattlures baits at mattlures.com. My advice is if you want a big fish bait go with quality made baits with a good reputation since there are a lot of baits that are not well made.

The best bang for the buck is Mattlure 's Baby Bass.

what is the best kind of line for that bait and how would you fish it?? you just swim it ?

(Hard body baits)

3:16 - armegeddon or wake bait

Jerry rago - Tool bait

Spro - BBZ-1 (great bait for the price)

Soft body baits

Huddleston Deluxe Swimbait by far.

These baits are big so a good swimbait rod is needed G.Loomis makes a great line of swimbait rods.

you want a round reel, i like them as they can handle the bigger fish, thicker line and bigger baits better. Personally you cant go wrong with an Abu, EXT or 6500. But for you shimano guys and Calcutta 400B, 400TE, or the best money can buy 400Te DC. Diawa Luna's are also great reels. Alot of the pro videos that i've watched and talked to some pro's and guides they say mono is the way to go, braid is stronger but not their preference, there reasoning is the stretch helps during the fight and the thickness of the mono allows you to fish the bait ALOT slower. There recomended line weight was 25lb test. I like trilene big game and maxima ultra green, 2 great TOUGH monofilaments.

I just recieved my order...

Mattlures Shad

3.16 mission fish

I like fishing em like a jig best but you can swim them too.  Not too fast though Ive found or they tend to roll.

I will post the pics tonight. sorry, ran out of time last night.

on't let us tell you what's best.  Let the fish tell you.  I find that different swimbaits work well in different waters.  The Huddy is hard to beat overall.  Great action and relatively cheap compared to some of the other offerings.
