What did you own then regret selling?

Featured Replies

I regret selling my Grabber Green, 1970 Boss 302 Mustang.  Bought it right after High School and sold it because I needed the money a few years later.  I was the 2nd owner.    :'(

It is now worth about 10 times what I payed for it.

2nd would be an original 45-70 falling block action rifle.  Some guy offered me way more money than I thought it was worth...  :-/ :-/

:'( :'(

Not something I sold, but I just  found out a few hours ago that my Grandparents, who are in their 80's, just sold the family vacation property and cabin.   :'( :'(

The thing that gets me is that they never mentioned to anyone they were selling it until after they signed the papers.  I still can't figure that one out!    :(  When I say 'no one' I mean they didn't mention it to ANYONE in the family!

The thing that bites me in the tail, and that I keep slapping myself over, is that they only sold it for $50,000!  I could have scraped that up in a couple of days, but for some unknown reason they sold it to someone else.   >:(  For a cabin that is only 7 years old, and a prime piece of riverfront property someone got a steal!!!

Oh well!  I will probably never know why they never mentioned it to me, but I'm sure they were tired of being burdened with the upkeep of it.

Kind of comes as a sad feeling at the best time of the year.

Two vehicles:

- One was my first truck. . . a 1974 International Scout II.  That thing was baby blue with white wagon spoke wheels and a 258 six cylinder.  I wrecked the back rear fender and it started to need a ring job.  I let my Dad talk me into selling it for $600.  I could kick myself for not keeping it.

-The other was my second truck. . . a 1972 1/2 ton Chevy fleet side.  Blue with rally wheels, 327 w/ 300 hp double hump heads, high-rise intake, 4 barrell quadrajet, and a TH 400 tranny.  That thing was the fastest truck in town for a while.  I wrecked it, let it set up for a long time, and finally let it go for a $1,000.  Again I would like to kick myself in the pants for that one.

I sold a 1991 Mitsubishi that I purchased in 1993 from a used car lot here in Indianapolis. It was the first fast car I had ever owned so I was a little naive about what speed was really like. I had been in some fast cars before hand but nothing quite like this one.  I started to dig through the car and found all sorts of reciepts to Indy Imports and a Custom specialist from Paducah, KY which included an engine swap ($4000) for a V-8 Mits. ($?????) engine (prepurchased), 2 twin turbos ($2500), frame weight reduction and new racing seats, and an automatic racing trans. ($3000).  I have no idea what else this guy did but this car would blow away just about anything I put up against it, including a buddies 1994 Corvette Callaway, my neighbors Porcshe 911 and my other buddies Mustang Cobra.  People would always ask what I did to it and I would say "nothing, the previous owner did it all" but the problem was I never knew who much TLC a car like this took.  I eventually had to sell it.  I could not afford the all repairs the car needed to keep it running in top shape.  I took quotes from various people and it always come up over $3000.  And for a car that I payed $8000 that was just to steep.  At the time I was stilling paying on it and I had put 3 sets of racing tires and new rims on it in less than 3 years.  I was lucky though, I sold it to a guy who bought form me it for the same price I payed for it.  I came out about even in the end but I sure do miss seeing that look on my buddy face when I would blow away his Vette.

I have been doomed to familly cars ever since.  Someday when the kids get older, I plan on fixing my mid-life crisis with an awesome sports car.

For me the only thing I owned that should have never ever been sold was my Porsche. I loved that car.

Was it modded it looks like a techart kit to me?

My father used to work an an airport in Michigan where he got signed picture autographs of people like Cher, Pam Anderson, Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant, Michael Jackson, Kid Rock...ect..Hundreds of autographs in excellent condition all in a picture binder to keep them neat. I got them for my 16th b-day and a friend convinced me to let him pawn them so he can buy some drugs. Promising to get them out of the pawn shop i never rcvd them back :((
