PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING: RECESSION IS HERE

Featured Replies

I don't want to sound like a sissy or anything, but...

All of this talk of recession kind of scares me. Is it just me?

Two things you can count on.

1. The economy will go into recession.

2. The economy will recover.

we live in a world where you better try to nest up some money for rainy days, companies around here have been laying off all year long, and most have gone out of business. But it will all come back around again. All you can do yourself is try to save as much as you can for rainy days, and try to be prepared.

Wow Texan,

That hurts....Texan.... :'(

Sorry, to used to short handing things.

Ain't Texan

That is the best article I have ever read in regards to this whole mess in Iraq...hands down

Thankyou for taking the time to write it...

I don't claim to have the answers to all the country's problems or do I pretend to know alot about our current situation with the economy.   But it seems to me to be a lack of common sense on alot of people's part out there.   What I mean is if you know you can not afford something then don't get a loan for it, regardless of how much you want it.   I'm not the most educated person but when I heard the words adjustable rate mortage I instantly knew that was not for me.   I feel its' common sense.  Why would you want to get a loan knowing that the payment is going to go up.

And I what really gets my goat is when people get themselves into these messes and expects the government to get them out.   If you don't have it to spend then don't spend it.     I want a new Mattews Bow it cost $719 I can get it but I know when it comes time to pay the bills I have a bow but no money for bills.  Whats more important want or need.

I really liked the report on the war on terror by Aint Texan.

I'm curious though......How come the rule against political posts only seems to get enforced when some (like me) posts an opinion that goes against conservative opinion or speaks out against the war in Iraq.

I think ain't Texan made a good point.   People HAVE largely forgotten about 9/11.

But even though we are now stuck in Iraq, Let's remember that the reason we invaded in the first place was a bogus fabrication...remember the weapons of mass destruction that were never found?  Remember the "yellow cake" plot that Mr. Bush talked about in his State of the Union address,,,,you remember the "irrifutable evidence" that Iran was trying to get nuclear material?????

Yes, and who can forget that this "irrefutable evidence" was a rumor that the Brits informed us was "completely unreliable"

Of course when our justification for invasion was no more than the emperors new clothes did the president apolgize to the American people, especially the mothers of soldiers who were killed ?  Of course not.  He did what every leader of a trumped up war does.........namely .....change the reason for why we invaded.

It is an absolute fact that Saddam Hussein was a zero threat to our national security.  We had bombed into being a threat to no one except his own people.

Now, lest anyone get worked up about the world being a better place without him....I say "not so"  Why do you think we let him stay in power?  And please don't tell me we fullfilled our UN mandate and so left.    We create UN mandates or ignore them at will.   No, we left him in power to avoid the exact situaton we now find ourselves in.  Namely a country torn over sectarian violence and over run by terrorists.  Anyone who even remotely studied the history and politics of the region knows full well that Saddam was a leader of the pan arab Batthist party.  This is a secular political party.  The Islamic fundamentalist crazies had no foothold in Iraq. NONE.  but they sure do now.

Oh and in case you haven't been paying attention, does the president's current drum beating about Iran sound vaguely familiar?

It is, in my opinion, a national disgrace and a huge disservice to the soldiers, sailers, and marines charged with our defense that the president diverted our focus from our real enemies.  The taliban and Al queda operating freely from Afghanistan and dedicated to our destruction.  We have still not defeated these creeps.  They still a pose a threat.   And yes, we now must bring the war in Iraq to a satisfactory conclusion.  After all, we graciously provided entire cadres of Islamic militants with a live fire training ground.  We better kill em all or we're really in trouble.

I know that the economy goes through the cycle, but what if it don't go back up soon after it falls?  What if it plummets into a depression?  That's what I'm worried about.

Well guys, this thread went over the "no politics" boundary a page or two ago.  Should've ended it there, so I will now.
