GULP ALIVE

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried the gulp alive, I picked some up at cabelas and am interested to try it.  Let me know if you have had any luck with it. I picked it up mainly for walleye but there are several patterns that "should" work great for bass.

there was another thread earlier on these baits and I have yet to see any feed back on their field performance.  Go try em and tell us how they are!

From everything I have "heard" is that Gulp products do very well on Smallmouth in your neck of the woods.

We do really well using them for walleyes up here in MN.  I hear great things about the grubs, minnows, and leeches.

I caught and released a 40" musky on the 3" minnow.

You guys are spelling it right - it's GULP! and it is like fish candy - the biggest problem you will have is just about every fish in the water will eat it - if that is problem for you.

Let me tell you, I went this past weekend to Keaton Beach Fl, and I was using my regulat pole with a popping cork, steel leader, and the red 1/4oz jigheads outfitted with the GULP Alive New Penny Shrimp, boy oh boy did it produce, we caught well over 100 fish, only a few Sea Trout keepers, but these things are awesome. When they are in water they release 400x times the amount of scent of normal bait,a nd they can take a beating when they bit by fish with teeth,

Great buy, a little pricey, a quart was $40 but to me worth it. If you go catfishing they also work from what i heard. I have yet to try them. Good luck and let me know.

I just came in from the pond in my back yard.  I was so excited the first cast before it even had a chance to sink I had a #2 on the line.  On the second cast I dragged it through a bed and landed A #4plus.  It was awesome the stuff really stinks.  After that I made a few more cast with no more success, so I don't know if the goo wore off or the fish just stopped biting (it was 2:00 in the afternoon).  Overall I think they are great baits.  I rigged a sionking minnow weightless texas style and it was great, next time I would put a sinker on it.  It was hard to keep the bait in one place without drifting too far.

I bought a pack of gulp plastics once opened them up, could not stand the smell, and they all dried up. They went in the trash at the ramp. Only pack I ever bought.

You're supposed to keep them sealed.  They'll last a long time if you keep them zipped up in their original bag.  I bought some 3" Gulp minnows in black shad two years ago and I just used the last of them last week.  I frankly forgot I had them and they were still good.  Stinky, though.

You let any gulp product out of water or the package for more then about 30 minutes its DONE. Thats what makes them so soft and able to release the scent. One other positiive note is that they are completely biodegradable.

I love the freshwater jerk shads so much that I own EVERY color. Theyve caught bass, pickeral, rock bass, and yes even gills have tried to hit it.

I havent tried the "alive" baits but the regular gulp products im sold on.

My wife bought some of these last fall at BPS. I thought they were a gimmick, but what can I say- I have bought some useless stuff in my life. Anyway, after seeing her catch smallmouth, bluegill, bass and channel cats on them it convinced me they were worth trying. We buy the 3 inch versions in "smelt" color, and T rig them on Gamakatsu #2 offset hooks with a tiny bullet weight. I jig them near brush piles, or in the river I pitch them and let them tick along the bottom and keep a close eye on my line.

It works really well for me. I use the the 3inch and 4inch black shad minnows at my little fishing hole and I've caught everything from a 6lb walleye to a 2lb channel cat to a 14 inch crappie to a 5lb hybrid striped bass to a 2lb largemouth. I'm sold on it.
