until we got back from Thanksgiving break me and my roommates had a praying mantis. We fed it bugs, worms, and even newts. Feeding it was AWESOME! Unfortunately, I don't think we remembered to catch any extra bugs to fill his aquarium with while we were away on break.

It was cheap as hell and very entertaining for a pet. The only thing we had to pay was for the small fish tank we bought to keep him in. That was only like $13. We fed him with bugs that had nested in our outside shed so that was not only easy to get food for him, but it also helped get rid of the bug problem.

A corn snake is a great pet.  You can keep it in a 20 gallon tank, minimal heat requirements.  Eats once a week.  Does take some committment but otherwise they are a easy to maintain, interesting pet.

Rat,Hamster,snake or an iguana.

I've had all except a snake....I don't have the nuts to hold them.

dang thats cool! we always have a few really big praying mantisi(?) hanging out around our house in the summer. i'm gona catch onne and keep it for a pet

We had anoles,  let them run around free in the apartment, they ate the cockroaches.  God I can't believe I used to live like that.

Did you train them to eat the roaches before the cops got into the apartment?

Snakes scare the living crap out of me. The pets I have been thinking about are turtle, chinchilla, or a degus. I want something other then the norm, but trying to keep smell down.

Corn snakes are pussycats.  Like I said, easy to take care of, interesting and quite pretty.  They have lovely dispositions.  Mine will actually come to my hand (expecting a mouse, no doubt).  They don't get so big (like Boas) that they become really burdensome.   Even if they do accidentally bite, it's less than a cat scratch.   They are perfectly content with not being handled for long periods.   They are clean, and their poop won't stink you out of the house like a cat.   You can feed them a mouse, $.99 a week.  

I definitely don't recommend one if your heart's not in it.  Just trying to say that if it were they really make a great pet for a small place.  

I had a pet snake once, but I couldn't house-break it, and couldn't figure out how to put a diaper on it.

I vote for the corn snake.  I love snakes but I figure the money for the divorce wouldn't make it worthwhile for me to have one.

NO PETS you don't have time to take care of them properly.
