Anyone else work night shift?

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd see if anyone else is working nights right now?

LOL, it's kinda crazy, most of you will be preparing for bed soon if you haven't already.

I just got up :D Sitting here drinking my coffee and in 15 minutes will get ready to go to work.  8-)

I generally work shifts for a month at a time. This month is my night shift month. I also start off the new year on nights, sooooooo 2 months straight of 11PM-7AM. Haven't been sleeping too well, even with my room totally blacked out. My back has been in one of it's moods. It's tough to sleep when you ache. Guess that's what I get for wearing body armor and a gun belt plus driving around for 6-8 hours at a time.

Enough rambling, time to get ready for work ::)

Merry Christmas, I'll be watching for Santa :D

I work evenings.  4pm-2am until I go back to my unit which is 3pm -0100.

I started out my career working days.  After 6 months I was transfered to midnights because I was always late to line-up.  I just CANNOT get up early, no matter how long I slept the night before.  Spent 3 yrs on mids until I went to afternoons.  I LOVE afternoons (evenings).

Mid's are good during the summer when it's 98 degrees in the daytime. But it can be a real pain in the ars trying to sleep when you get home at 7am with all the outside noise.

What do you do for a living?

Whelp, here it is 4:21 AM, BORING night. Freezing rain all night, roads have like 2 inches of ice on them, ZERO crashes so far, nor much else for that matter.

Currently sitting dispatch for 2 hours cause our scheduled dispatcher called off sick :-X.....I hate sitting here >:(, would rather be on the road. Got about 35 minutes left till I'm relieved by another road guy, 5 of us working tonight rotate through dispatch.

While in college I worked the graveyard shift and loved it.

No hassles. No bosses running around. Cooler nights. Less traffic coming and going.  Having the day to visit stores and conduct personal business.

It was great.  ;)

ironiclly enough I work the "graveyard shift" making the nails for our coffins. Stanley-Bostitch.

Yes I work 3am til noon , 5 days a week. New Schedule calls for 5am to 2pm, I am going to like this a lot more!

Have worked it for almost 14 years. This time of year it's not bad, but in the summer with the kids into sports, you learn to live on very little sleep.

 For about 3 years I worked 3rd shift 11pm to 7am

I didn't like it but I learned to make the best of it. I slept imeediately after coming home. I was able to almost live a normal 1st shift family life this way. I made almost all the kids's activities school plays etc. The weekend switch back and forth deal was kind of tough but doable.

I work 1900-0700.  7 on and 7 off.  On my 7 off I will stay out all night with the sheriff's office at least once as I am a reserve deputy.  I really like working nights.
