Meant to post this a couple weeks ago when I took it, but don't think I ever did....

BTW, can you imagine swallowing a catfish whole, with those spines and all ?

One more thing... look close... that bottom bill is actually speared through the tail of the catfish. That catfish has got to be thinking, "Oh $#@& ! This is all bad" !

Cool pic. Reminds of one time last year I spotted a cormorant up in a tree with a catfish about that size. The bird was beating the fish against the trunk of the tree to make it settle down. Funniest thing I seen. Too bad I didn't have a camera then.

Do you think birds know the difference between fish? Like does that bird know that is a catfish and I have to eat it a certain way to avoid dieing?

Very cool picture btw

Very, very nicely captured.  Tough shooting conditions too.

Great capture Chris.

I love the way that bulrush stalk skewers the neck of the great blue heron.

It just amazes me how fish-eating birds know about dorsal and pectoral spines.

You can bet the ranch that she swallowed that bullhead head-first.

Beautiful pic Chris. I wish I had your photography skills. I took my daughter out last Wednesday and we have a few lakes the have created habitats for Bald Eagles. We watched as the Eagle was searching and finally made his dive coming back to the nest with a nice size bass as we were close to the nest we could see the action. Its was quite the expierience for my daughter as she had never seen this before. Once again AWESOME CHRIS!!!

Great shot,  I need remember to bring my camera when get out there.  I missed a chance to get a shot of a river otter the other day.
